By all accounts the first wings were quite sporty more in the vein of a VFR than a modern goldwing/winnebago

i phil carmen told me a few months ago he raced a gold wing and yes they wore through their pipes, before the race he went back home and had to weld all the pipes up to be allowed to race, he asked the other team how they got on on a gold wing and they said they simply bogged up the pipes, enough for scrutineering as as soon as they were on the track no one would know, imagine how much bog was littering the circuitQuite fast for their day, but there's always a corner after every straightaway !

I was on a group ride on Oz with someone who'd just ridden one around Australia! Cornering speeds were limited, but it was very quick once on the power.
