I would if I was a couple months away from my year on the restricted finishing. It only just started so no need to have the temptation of a 900 lol. And I'm an apprentice so a Ducati to run and my hyosung would make me broke.

Yep. A Ducati of any sort is not something you'd want to try and run on an apprentices wages. I know that first hand...

I do happen to have an incredibly ugly GSX550 for $1500.00 though...

A friend of mine who is also an apprentice has a 400 ss. But they're one of the cheaper Ducati.

You're not joking. It's a bit old for me although I am normally a sucker for a cheap bike.

Lol. 55hp from a Jap 400 compared to 42 I think from the Ducati. Sites it's a inline 4 compared to a c twin but you'd expect them to be able to get a bit more from it.

Pretty sure they're restricted for the Jap market. You can get them to go quite well with work. They were quite popular down here for BEARS lightweight class for a while.

Speaking of getting Pantah engines going well. Does anyone know how big Dallas Rankin's dope burning race bike was? The one Robert used to great effect. That was THE fastest F2 bike I ever came up against. Was the only combo I couldn't beat back in the day.

Exhaust air filter and re jet would net you a fair amount of hp. What do they ride like? I was wondering if a 400 is a viable option for the bit of riding in between my 250 and a 600. It seems like a good mix of power and economy.

It was a 750 with 900 cases for the 6 speed gearbox (in at least one incarnation), racing in F2 class beating the TZ250's it used to have a bit of nitro as well. which was legal at the time, pretty sure it was housed in a old Ducati F1 frame.
Robert Holden's class was i think more the key to its success. Along with Dicks prep work.
Pretty sure it was measured after a Robert Taylor protest in the mid nineties.
Pretty sure Robert (taylor)was instrumental with getting the nitro banned as well, he was certainly pretty vocal about it.

The 851 steve roberts framed BMS with mechanical injection was i believe a full liter many years before Ducati got even close.

I'm going to spell this wrong but Chris Sayle had told me it was a Verlochi frame and think he had a replica frame I'd seen hanging in his garage.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
