I didn't think I had enough time to do the west coast trip this morning. I am quite keen to go all the way down to Kawhia -or at least around Kariori and Prionga if you are interested-be a long day but should be ok if I get away early enough. I'm coming from South Auckland where would you meet? Maybe next weekend?
Not in the Waikato but this is what I did last weekend.........

Yeah I'd be interested. Maybe meeting at Ohuatira near Waingaro if you can get all the way down the coast to Raglan on a tank, or Huntly If you need a gas stop?
Yeah next weekend would work.
If we are lucky enough Kiatuna might be allowed out. 10bikekid on his 2smoker? Whoever is keen.
Sticking to the back roads
Not sure about next weekend till later in the week as have to attack a garden at some stage......what about meeting at the Nikau cafe and going down the coast roads down to Raglan and then around Kariori and back via Te Mata ...one of the things I'd like to do is go down via Matira and the coast roads.
Sounds cool but unsure yet, would have to be DRBIG at this stage as still sorting 2smoke for longer trips (extra fuel cans, new front tire and balance to stop front end shake at speed, tools and spare spark plug)
Getting there though and tried out some mods today as per this post http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...post1130702153
O well looks like I'll have to ride up to the end of Murawia beach as the tide is conveniently low at 8'45am tomorrow, then try out the 2smoke on the dunes, darn it
May take a punt around the Woodhill forest bike park after that then tottle home for a late lunch![]()
What you reckon MR WR (all invited of course) early morning run up to Auckland for the Dune ride of your life ?![]()
Sounds like a cool dayjust give me more notice next time and I'll stay the night at my Mrs's parents in Auckland , I'm not into early mornings. Kinda need better tyres for that sorta thing too, to roady at the moment. Would love to have a play in Woodhill.
Have fun.
Went up to Port Waikato today along the coast then up Klondyke rd, and then south along alot of gravel roadsDamn seat on the WRR takes alot of the fun out of the long rides

Nice and will do.
Seat, I know what you mean, am running sheepskin off KTM plus wearing padded cycle pants, will post pic's and ride details on my return (and butt report)
PS. am still keen on ride down your way so all good, just have a friend with a shiny new KTM350 and he might appreciate my visit to the bike park with the accompanying oohs and aars required
Nice day for a ride to Kaiauwa
Mataharu/Ohinewhi Road had just been graded to a pretty nasty camber which made for a more cautious ride over the Hapuakohe Range.
Came across a MX day on Coxhead Rd in a recently cut Maize paddock. Stopped for a quick look, thought about doing a lap but the Shinko 700 isn't really designed for that + im a stingy bugger and didnt want to let go of some coin (basicly just scared)
On to the East Coast Rd aka birdwatching coast?everyone needs a hobby I guess. After buzzing around the motorhomes and scaring of the birds
I stoped for a photo op:
Stoped at the pub in Kaiaua for a well earnt drink, alot of cool bikes there today. I dont usually have a beer if I'm riding but the day asked for it.
Went up into the Hunua Ranges to one of the reservoirs, was a nice metal road that deserves steering with the rear, disappointed to find the gate locked past the reservoir; was looking forward for alot of fun in there. Always locked?
Im proud of the little WRR it just takes the abuse and smiles.
