Bit of nostalgia: England V Australia Speedway 1933

I'm currently back in London for some warm beer and cold pies.
So I was on a tour of Wembley Stadium and came across this photo on the wall of the players tunnel of all places of the starting line for England v Australia Speedway dating back to 1933.
The pic is not the best but what an amazing shot, England and Aussie speedway from nearly 100 years ago.
I remember the Wembley Lions speedway team when I was a kid, most Friday nights was speedway at Wembley and we used to listen to it in the folks back garden, once a month money permitting my dad would take us along for a look. Happy times and fond memories.
Anyway, thought I would share this one with you all...

I used to live at wembley but there was no speedway happening there as far as I know at that time. Was this on the same site as the new stadium?

Good stuff Mark, Speedway is/was awesome.

Back in 07' I was working in a house and noticed a photograph on his wall. I was black and white, three guys in leathers and Speedway Bibs. His name was Bob Anderson, and he raced Speedway here and in England in the 60's...He and his mates boycotted Western Springs (cos' of some money thing) and used to travel down to Palmerston North to race. Load the bikes and leave Auckland at 9pm Friday night, arriving in Taupo at 1am. Then onto Palmerston North Saturday....race that night, get on the piss and drive back Sunday. I grew up in Palmerston North, Dad took me to the Speedway in the early 70's and whenever it was in town...got to see four of the then top riders in the world race together and they were...Ivan Mauger/Barry Briggs/Danish speedway world champ Ole Olsen and Swede Ove' Fundin . Bob raced in the days of Ronnie Moore etc....the photo on the wall was when he was in England racing in the Oxford colours.
