Ever wanted a factory supercharged Ninja?

    http://www.ninja-h2.com/

That prototype motor appeared to be based on some of the same castings as the ZX-6R unit, but with the addition of a supercharger to boost power. The new ‘H2’ reference could be a suggestion that the final engine will actually be around 750cc. With a supercharger, the resulting motor would probably be powerful enough to destroy 1000cc normally-aspirated bikes in performance terms, while potentially being smaller and lighter. The implication is the sort of radial step forward that was last seen on the 1992 Fireblade and the 1998 Yamaha R1.

If it landed here, I would make space in the garage for it.

Why would a supercharger chirp like a turbo blow-off valve?

I've wondered for ages why there was not more interest in supercharging. Probably cost.

I wonder the point of it on a 750 - presuming it is a sport model the 750/1000 size is essentially little different other than a cm or so of engine width. Big deal.

Supercharge a 1000 - now then I'm sitting up grabbing a box of tissues. Actually add a bag of adult nappies too as I'd never handle that type of power!

PS - I am really worried Kawasaki will produce a stunner of a bike mechanically but it will be transformer butt ugly ....

Depends on the type of supercharger, but on a centrifugal it could help I guess

Yeah. Complexity and reliability issues are the big one - more moving parts to stock, more stuff to possibly go wrong, and a more highly strung engine overall.

Easier just building a thou rather than a supercharged 750 really.

I'm worried about the opposite myself

No. I've wanted one with decent suspension and finish for, like, forever though.

Yeah I wouldn't want to be left waiting for that to come along.

Some dudes on adv are hoping for a 250

Mind you, 250 bracket running costs and handling...650 performance...got to be some global appeal there (maybe not as much as the 650 to 1000 murmurs though)

Yeah... very much doubt it, simply because imagine the number that will get wrapped around the nearest roadside object!

I'm thinking it's more likely a 1400cc gets replaced with a supercharged 1000cc for example. The benefit of a supercharger is that while it uses more fuel (compared to a turbo using exhaust gas) it's more linear, without the turbo lag, which means you don't have it suddenly going mental at x rpm, meaning a smoother ride.

I did once (briefly) consider a supercharger, but given that I completely lack the know-how, it would have to be purchased, and any kit available was much more expensive compared to a turbo. Plus, of those that did supply a kit, cali super chargers or something, had questionable customer service... Fortunately the bike was moved, allowing me to buy something more suitable (aka, not get me into more trouble)

I would love to see bike development mirror car... a twin charge (provided it's not a 250cc powerplant by then) would be wicked!

Could be the vacuum valve if it's fitted with one.

Tell him he's blarrdee dreamin. Total exaggeration. It will only be 290 to 295 hp tops. Quite manageable for most sensible riders. 300hp would be considered irresponsible by the manufacturer.

Must say the teaser marketing is fun to follow though.
