So tempted to get a new L5 GSX-R600

At the current price, it's soooo tempting. To get back onto a real bike again would be great. (But it would mean getting in debt again, so maybe I should wait a bit.)

One thing about the L5 GSX-R600, which overall I think looks great. (And some great quality parts like the 4-pot Brembos on the front and the chunky Showa forks... )
But on the current Gixxer 600's what's with that great big oversized can, where the old ones, like the K6's had IMHO, a better looking smaller muffler. I reckon in some respects the styling has gone backwards. Is it some kind of emissions thing?

Not a fan of the headlight on the latest GSX-R's either. But it's still a hell of a bike for $13K new, compared to $20K for the CBR600RR or nearly $19K for a new R6.

Absolutely the best value brand new super sport money can buy, and don't forget the banging 2 year Suzuki warranty!

Despite the awful blue graphics that is a lot of bike for you bucks if you are in the market for a mid sport bike - 'save' $5,500!!!!

Just do it if you want it. You deserve one. You have been working hard. Interest rates are falling - pop it on the mortgage .........

Linky for all to see- so hurry up and order one.

Would be a killer bike, but yea, definitely not a fan of the new graphics on em.

And I know what you mean about the exhaust. My K7 was the last to have it and it easily sounds a lot better stock than K8 onwards up til the L4 at least.

Yeah, if I was to splash out, I'd mostly likely go for the so-called "Pearl Bracing White/Metallic Mat Fibroin Gray"... aka white and gray. Bit more discreet.

Buy it but only if you are willing to accept a minimum 30% drop in value the second it's registered in your name, before factoring in interest on a depreciating asset liability. Then a further ~10% drop in value every year until it plateaus out at ~6-7k.

Fixed the colour name for you above.

Looks good in the white and grey.

Pipe is a easy fix and lets face it at that price you can afford a pipe! You can pick up a aftermarket slip on from the USA or Pommyland for a good price.

I don;t think the value of Suzukis specials drops the same as a non-special Suzuki. They probably have a new 600 on the way, run out the current model and the new one will bang in at $19k again. Unless you are racing it the 14 model will still be desirable and once sold will still command a good price used for it's first year or so.

I've been watching their Summer Fest specials for a dozen or so years now and provide excellent value and as above hold it for longer than the current year model (most Fest models are not current year).

The person I feel sorry for it the one who paid $19k just before Xmas for his 600 .........

I have a GEM visa that I bought a bed with. Got shoppers insurance on it, if I buy any item on it, then the item goes on sale, I file a claim, show the current price of the same item and bam they credit me the difference. I think its valid for about 6 months after purchase

That seems weird and good luck claiming, I am sure there is a huge page of fine print there!
I bet you have to pay RRP then really....
I mean to say, almost everything is on sale at some stage right?

Not sure if I misunderstood, but the on-special $13K Gixxer isn't the outgoing 2014 model, it's the newly arrived 2015 (L5) model. So that's even better, as it will be about a year until they come out with another model, with different coloured plastic and maybe a couple of mm's reshape here and there.

Won't happen. You'll loose way less percentage wise buying a GSXR600 at that price than just about anything else. It'll not be a 6-7 k bike for years to come.

lol, well you certainly called my bluff, cheers... I'm about 5 minutes from Grey Lynn Red Baron, and about 7 minutes from Coleman's, so I'll see if I can get a test ride over the next week or so, and if they don't have it in white/grey, I may get back to you on that offer, cheers! Which dealership are you with, may I ask?

Correct - it is the current 2015 model - rare for a Suzuki Fest. I'm guessing global sales of the 600's are slow (media indicates this) thus a excess.
