The 900 was the better bike.(MHO)
The Super 3 will be the one to have in another twenty years.
Me, I cheaped out and bought the Diablo Black 9hundy from JCS in Perth.
Still got it. One lady owner etc, with 50k on the clock.
They are top heavy Dinosaurs, but that triple 900 is an absolute stunning engine.
Not super powerful, but one of the best all roads engines ever made. I'm keeping mine.
(sold a Katana1100 81, and don't miss it, but if I sold the Daytona, well, they might find me hanging in the shed rafters one day.)

Too expensive ....... check TM for what $10k will buy now. You'd need to have a Triumph logo tattooed on your forehead (or foreskin) to pay that.

    Agreed

I remember reading a test when the 12 1st came & the mag classed it as an orphan that didn't know what it wanted to be; a cross between a ZZR1100 & FJ1200....neither one nor the other and nowhere near as good as either in their intended purpose.
Doesn't sound too bad really when you when you weigh up the pros & cons of each of those two bikes

What they are is a fairly awful compromise BUT the later they are (they raised the bars at some point) the better they are as a sports tourer. More to the point they are a very good pillion bike with a wide decent seat and sensible foot pegs. Being a heavy old tank means they are not too upset by pillion and luggage and at 147bhp they still pull well laden. Being a generic frame / engine combo means you can mix and match parts to get the bike you want.

Best of all they were the first cool looking new triumph that I looked at and though yeah - I like that... If you see one now they are a big long tank of a thing. BUT since I do have Triumph tatoo'd on my willy I'd still like one but am resigned to buying a cheap bonnie and hot rodding it.
