Ignore the Honda banging. I owned a 2011 CBR1000rr that I thought was absolutely brilliant. I WAS looking to buy a BMW S1000rr at the time, rode the CBR1000rr and actually couldn't justify the extra $12-$15k. Bought the 2011 and loved every minute of it. Only sold it when I ran out of garage space and smashed myself against a tree on the motoX bike. Looking at another one shortly I think. Top bikes, very nimble, reasonable power, very very very usable.

I'm struggling to justify the Aprilla now....

Thanks for your experiences. The more I read on the CBR the more I like the idea of jumping on one. So I've sorted a ride on one this weekend.

I gather they are hard to service? Hard fairings to get off and esp on? Epic mission to change plugs? Linked ABS system needs dealer gear to change and bleed fluid? I read nothing but good on the way they handle and their ability and usability on the road. First models burnt oil at a huge rate? I love the SP model, but would hesitate to own one given the above.

I will note that my CBR1000rr had a Power Commander 5 with exhaust system and re-tune.

I swear if you rebadged the Honda with a European badge and gave it to one of the moaning cunts they would state hand on heart and be willing to be arse raped by Satan himself if proven wrong that it was the best bike ever made.

Fucks sake mate they are all fantastic.

So true. Anyone who buys a bike purely on the image or because of an image rather than the machine is a poser in my books anyway!

Bumped into this guy today in town with a 2012. He is thinking about selling it so we chatted. Only thing this bike is pushing 40,000ks. He reckons he has had no issues yet surly 40k odd is getting up there....? I did go for a quick ride on it very nice, smooth power I have a ride on a new one tomorrow.

All depends on the price really, and weather it has had a lot of track time (aka engine wear) or just occasionally.

I've always read that as the issues are just waiting for the next owner

If it has been well serviced, 40k kms is nothing. I would anticipate paying circa $10k for something like that.

Yea this guy was hinting around $10,500, really nice bike very clean and tidy. The kms on it are kind of an unknown to me as they seem bloody high for a bike.....?

No issues with the kms if it has a proven service record including shock servicing. Inho price should be pretty reasonable and ten five is not.
