wondering how long before we see people with orange strobe lights

and yes I use a hi vis vest, find it most effective when its undone, flapping about attracts attention

but difficult to spot by oncoming cars

A contractor I used to work with had one on a stem.
Bit more than I would do but it gave her the confidence she needed to be a full time rider.

I'm all for doing what you think makes you more comfortable on your ride - whatever floats your boat.

I also know that with all the road signs, hi vis jackets every one is going to eventually become more blaze and ignore most things.

My own idea is to make myself more visible by having motion and flashing as my weapons of choice. Being different is my goal

Flashing can be very cold this time of year.

My mother in law had a vest that flashed.
    USB rechargeable.
Solid worked well during the night but difficult to see during the day.
Flashing worked well during the day but very distracting at night and it seemed to attract oncoming traffic, encourage following traffic to tailgate etc.

I have always found being one of the f things people instinctively see is far more effective.
Fear it, fuck it, feed on it or it's funny.

I don't really want drivers following me around looking to hump me or eat me so the choices are a little easier.

Someone else I used to work with swore by wearing a clown wig on his helmet.

the funniest thing I ever saw, remember MadMax Thunderdome? A biker in Malaysia used to ride around with a (female) manikin's head epoxy'd to the top of his helmet. He swore that everybody saw him, because they looked at least twice :-) I think he was right.
