    Check out this thread in ADVrider,he has scanned 1962,1963 and 1964 Cycle World magazine Bonneville reports,Burt was there every year,well respected as you can see.

    with a bit of imagination, you can just see what it was like back then.. I'd love to have been there.

    Probably holds the record for longest period after death to have an event named for you. I'd doubt if the Barry Sheene named events will go that long...
    Only other one i can think of is the Cannonball Run - which was named for Cannonball Baker.
    Anyone think of any others ?

    i ran a Cannonball Run a handful of years ago, named after Rod Cannonball coleman.
    the longest after death is probably the rusty nuts Sir Walter Rally i'd think in the motorcycling world.
