Cannot go in gear without bike cutting off.

    Hey guys,
I have an issue with my 2003 Suzuki GSX250. Everytime I start it, then put it in gear, it cuts out. I'm just wondering what the problem is so I can sell it and upgrade Just hoping it's something small.
    Thanks

Most likely that Akzle got it in one, possibly get away with disconnecting it, cleaning it thoroughly, then putting it back in, often works.

Thanks for the help. And yeah, the stand's down, and I've been riding dirt bikes for years and this is my first road bike...never even ridden a scooter before

As above, they are fitted with switches that kill the engine if it is kicked into gear while the stand is down.
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.

I had the same problem. For me, the solution was going over the wiring, several wires leading to the dash had worn through and had earthed on the bracket. Once they were repaired and double insulated, it worked fine.

My bike would start fine, but die if the clutch got pulled in or side stand went up.

Do any other lights come on that shouldn't? When it happened to me, my indicators were lit up on the dash.

Just because it's up doesn't mean the switch isn't #$^'d and the electronics thinks it's still down. Try disconnecting the switch.

.... back in green and feeling great ....
