    Lane splitting in rush hour?

    hey dudes and dudets

I just went for a mint ride this afternoon , and came back from the city area in rush hour 6pm to west Auckland , I lane split most of the way , but as a newbie myself , I see people use there indicator when lane splitting, so for half the way I put on my indicator and started going , but I have to say ALOT of ASSHOLES saw me coming and moved closer to the center line ..... and were really not interested in letting a gap form , so the last 5 min I turned it back off and had a good ride all the way home ,

I was wondering what you guys think about indicators when lane splitting ....

I always use the RH indicator when filtering.
If I merge back into traffic, it goes off.

The lanes on the NW are rather narrow due to the roadworks and will continue to be for a year or so yet, so just go with the flow and take the opportunities that present themselves when filtering.
I was forced to take the tin-top to work the other day and was caught in 45mins of gridlock. It took that long to travel about 350mtrs! Just unbelievable.

The benefit of using your indicator is it's one less reason for some cunty cop to give you a ticket.

yes we do, I live on one, but I spose technically that's outside Palmy so I actually live about 14km from the city centre, and it takes me like 12 minutes to get home at rush hour!

Know that feeling, I live completely across town from work and some days it can take me the same. That shit is unreal eh; I even get to split/filter sometimes...

    dont belittle my problems Virago.

in rush hour, it take me SEVEN minute to get to my mates on the far side of town, instead of the usual four minutes.

He could be a good couple drinks ahead of me by then!

That's a very nice driveway you have... just how far is the road from your house?

    Depends ...

Some days it's a few hours ride.

    Other days ... maybe a week ...

I just can't figure out why indicators are important ...

I split all the time, with my hazards on.

I find when people are on the phone or otherwise too lazy to maintain their lane discipline, a pull of the clutch and the gentle melody of 10,000 RPM quickly corrects their lane position.

I don't bother, unless I'm pulling in and out of traffic flow.
