Well I'm sure you won't be exluded if you don't rock up on a bike ... so yes ... they already have the same opportunity.

Happened to see the original one day, amazing bike.

You'd think it's in a museum, but no. It's in a hardware store in Invercargill, he gave it to them when he died as they helped him out over the years. Pretty neat story.

People just feel sorry for us because our houses fell down and our motorbikes fell over.

Anyone know how many bikes got damaged in the quakes, and how many got written off?

No, its because we have a bullshit council who are happy to make free with ratepayers money and waste it on pointless events

There will be demonstrations on braking, positioning and riding at a slow speed by professional motorcycle trainers and a presentation by NZ Police.
Doesn't seem all that pointless to me and much better use of funds than what the council up here does with our money (installs fountains to pull them out again a year later because they cost too much to maintain or some shit )

They've already done a few from memory. The Burt aspect is probably an attempted draw card.

Lots had a wee lie down. Mine fell over twice. First time it fell onto an upside down coffee table which was sitting on something else in the garage. The table cradled the bike in it's legs and cushioned it's fall to such an extent that no damage was done. Second time I'd parked it beside a tree to catch it's fall if there was a quake ... which there was. Bike didn't go all the way to the ground but did finish up against the tree with a rip in the seat which cost $125 to fix. I got off light.

Is some sort of incentive to try and improve training and motorcycle safety a waste of money.
Looks to me like ccc and police along with motorcycle training industry are all supporting this and no doubt funds from acc as well.

My first reaction was - I've been riding 30 odd years so what can they teach me.

But then thought yep I've been riding 30 odd years and have scars, bits of surgical steel and screws to prove it so perhaps they can.

So I will pop along and try and take an open mind.

After all if someone is willing to organise and fund something for bikers for a change then the least I can do is support it - may encourage them to think of us more often.

Very odd. Don't they have some "artworks" to spend vast amounts on?

An excellent mindset to have! We can all learn something new.
