Integrated tail lights and flush mount front indicators. Are they legal?

    Title says it all really.

Also can flush mount indicators easily seen? Or would smaller lower profile led things be better?

Yes, and the indicators are legal so long as you can see them from the required angles. There is a handy diagram on the LTSA/NZTA/VTNZ/YHA/GOATSE or some other applicable acronyms website.

According to the rules, it's unlikely that either is legal. But then you may very well pass a WoF depending on the inspector.

I was failed on the flush mounts that were on the R1 when I bought it because you couldn't even see them at the required angle!

Thanks i think if you cant see them from the front then probably not very safe either so will give them a miss.

Those integrated tail lights and flush mount d front indicators were on my mates gixer when he bought it. They are as useless as tits on a nun! He is changing them to something visible on a sunny day.

I've seen a few bikes with modded lights at the rear which look really cool. But don't work to communicate with the people behind.

Tail tidies are all about form over function. I don't have much time for them to be fair. Naff.

Tail tidies rock. Just don't ride in the rain ........ your back gets wet. Moist.

Signals - I usually alter mine from bread box sized horrors to smaller units but ensure they are bright. LEDs have visibility issues in bright light that have stopped me going that way yet.

Integrated stop/turn units look cool as hell BUT average Joe in a car is NEVER looking for that shit so you are asking for trouble IMO.

In theory you need correct markings E or DOT for legality. But many WOF shops are unaware/ignore.

Given your other thread about your 100 points I would stick with OE if I was you. It might not look as cool but neither does sitting on the bus with the poor people.

Wwhen you go to compliance a bike the only thing they look at for the e markings are the headlight and the rear reflector in my experience

IMHO, the whole thing is a fucking joke. If you run OE lighting, then by definition it's legal as long as the bulbs work. But every day, I see modern cars where you can't see the far side indicators within a 45° angle.

Hopefully this will all be sorted soon.
Ive noticed over the last year a lot of cars not turning their lights on. And others that just put the eye lid lights on not the full headlights presumably they think it looks cool. Seems they dont realise the rear lights dont turn on when they do that. Audi SUVs are notorious for this.
