I think I have only missed two cemetery circuit meetings since 1959. had some wonderful photos but sadly all destroyed in my Mums house fire in 1974.

I (and guess many others) always looked forward to the Boxing Day TV coverage back in the day, and Yes nothing wrong with Wanganui apart from the muddy river. Visited there a few times during the 70's...even went there on a School trip from Palmmy. My fathers cousins used to race there, not sure if Neville did but certainly David.

I think the last time I watch that particular race on TV was in a games room at a New Plymouth camping ground in the early 80's.

From a competitor point of view I reckon Greymouth is far better

    .
Was a good 'Meet' at its peak and then with TV coverage at Xmas time.
Saw a couple after living overseas a while, but flagged it in 2000 and haven't been back.(hell, that's 15 yrs !!).

You'd never go hungry with Nigella Gaz.
If it weren't for flashbacks...I'd have no memory at all..

    it's peak? in whose eyes?
the two day meetings of the early eighties, the malboro series, current years where the variety of racing is bigger with moden classics, modern and classic sidecars and motards.
looks two years ago they had more international riders since the malboro series, this year could be even more

We are expecting some VERY handy sidecar racers at cemetery circuit this year. My money is on a 600 F2 outfit for the win. Im picking it will be next level never seen before in NZ sidecar control by masters at the art.

Guy Martin was last year as well.

And in the last Cycle World I read Don Canet (who is quite quick) was fizzing at the bung because he had been to Paeroa and the column finished that he had been invited to race in FONGANOOEEE this year.

In mine and most people that were in and saw that era.
There's a difference in just getting anyone, or getting a world class peddler.
I mean Guy martin or Horst someone ???
But talk it up if you must, it's nothing like the the peak and boom years.
Marlboro got an Italian world 500 champ to come, as an eg.
