Shell Westagate at 7 bla bla bla rideyour own ride bla bla bla.
I'm juggling with the idea of ATNR, or ATNR-J, or SATNR this evening.
I was thinking of checking out a couple of items at Cycletreads, so ATNR afterwards might be a go.
Which one usually gets a few turning up these days?
Oh, and I'm not looking to go quick, so does that rule me out for ATNR? (Can't afford any tickets)...

I'm working till 7 otherwise I'd be keen. ATNR-J has been a bit quiet of late, probably cause I'm blind at night lol!!

Toying with ones mortality shouldn't be this much fun.

ATNR-J meets at Mobil Oteha Valley Rd 6:45-7pm. Not that I've ever ridden with that group yet... I'm not sure if there's any turn-out. It has its own thread. I used to go to NASS a bit years ago, but Wed's are out for me these days.

No posts on the thread for 2 months. Not looking hopeful.

yeah we went quiet for a bit as other commitments came up for the regulars.

It's a great open road ride for those who go to NASS to try and use some of the skills we've picked up.

Yeah, this weather put me right off going for a ride tonight. Riding in the rain I'll do to get to work or back, but it's just not much fun...

If everyone just did the same fucking ride and stopped being pussies then maybe more people would turn up.

The ATNR hasn't been the crazy mythical ride it used to be since probably around 2007 when it started its slow demise.

If you get enough people going then the pointer system works better and caters for all riders.

If you have 4 people turn up and one of them is a learner of course the other 3 people are going to find the pointer system tiresome.

Everyone can ride their own ride, and have a good time. Not sure where the idea came from that if you go on the ATNR youll get tickets. ONLY IF YOU SPEED (and get caught)

If crazy people want to turn up LET THEM, as its what used to provide the simply awesome entertainment in years gone by before the high-vis brigade came along. Anyone from the old skool will fondly remember the dramas and the excitement and the stories at the pub.

Around 2006 was the time I went on my first ATNR. My memories of this include a fireblade going passed me at around 130kmh whilst pulling a standup mono; Being overtaken by an '05 ZX10R going in excess of 250kmh; someone standing on the tank of their VFR for the length of some monstrous straight on Ararimu Valley Road; & Going 'as fast as I could' on my ZX9R only to find myself near the back of a +20 pack at the first stop off. Least to say .. I loved it. Despite being one of the "high-vis" brigade I still enjoyed my fair share of immature antics.

A few years later, it seemed to have calmed down. Everyone seemed to stick to 100kmh despite what the recommended corner speed was, but I didn't see anyone pulling any wheelies or doing anything most would deem stupid/fun.
??It's almost as if everyone matured??
I wave to every biker I see.

OR by 2008 the ride was being actively tracked.
We had a sweep car of sorts in a champagne Galant.
