My incoming Kona Unit has just incommed...
2hrs of stripping, cleaning artistically applied tar splatter and replacing bits later...
Threw away the sprocket, chainring, chain and put new ones on.
Going to replace the bars, brakes, grips, seat with NOS* parts...
Was expecting a 19" that might or might not be too small, however it's actually a 20" frame with 180mm cranks.
12.5kg at the moment...

Testing some SPD's. Got to go to XTR level to save weight (10g) on a pair of old Candy 2's.
The cleats are a bit heavier though...
Have no issues with the Candie's, Eggbeater's and Mallet's but Shimano is much cheaper and look to be stronger axles, which is what I'm after.
Hoping my knees can accept less float than they're accustomed to...
Although, the XTR axle does seem quite similar at the base, but I think it doesn't taper to a point like the Bro's ones.
For pure XC or cyclocross racing, I still don't think you can beat a pair of Eggbeater's.

I've heard some amazing things about these rotors, I don't think I'm going fast enough to need 'em yet!

Got a pair off TradeMe for less than 1 new one.
Top tip: Avid BB7's don't work with 160mm IceTech rotors.
The little arm on the inner pad hits the rotor's alloy carrier...
Oh well, the normal rotor is lighter and it's the front one I wanted to run a little cooler.

Put some ugly black flat bars (original Kona ones) on the Unit to test with bar ends.
The bars are my preferred width, but too much pull back and not red enough.
The bar ends make ALL the difference. Can move around more easily to keep traction AND it's easier to climb.

I put some on my bike last year, can't tell the difference between them and the plain Jane discs I had one but wank factor increased quite a bit

Shouldn't have as much of the freshly cooked brake disc smell with them.
