That was a productive morning.
Some drop bars, 9 speed STI shifters and road cable disc calipers and it'll be finished.
Easy to drop a set of 26" MTB wheels in too.
It'll do quite well in the meantime though...

Sooo the 1x10 is all the rage now is it? I have to say it would be good not having the chainslap. There have been so many changes over the last few years it's getting pretty hard to keep up.

They're shimano cable discs I got off TradeMe over 10 years ago.
Was even difficult getting pads for them back then.
Took about 20min to fit including finding cable inners and outers.
I'm thinking of stripping the full suspension bike and selling the bits.
It's a 100mm travel race bike and would only get used 2-3 times a season.
It's just a plush back end version of my stumpy hard tail which I really enjoy riding and is only used for the races I know are really rough.

1x10 is good, but you have to add a 40/42t rear sprocket to regain any of the grinding type climbing ability.
A 32t front with 11-36 rear is lacking in the bottom end.
Actually, now I think about it, rides I know I'll need a granny gear on are the main reason for choosing the fully over the hard tail.
The closest to a fat bike I can do is a Diamondback Ascent rigid with 26x2.4" tyres.
11-34 rear gearing and a 42t front.
Should climb anything!

Rode a Fat Bike in Hamner after doing the Rainbow Rage, not to sure where I would use it other than buggering about on the beach! Funny enough I met the guy who is importing them into the country, it was while I was on the Dusty Butt, he was raving on about these Fat Bikes, the rest is history.....

Did you have to weld brackets onto your forks and rear stays? I have often thought about fitting them to my old Cannondale, it would probably be far cheaper to buy an old disc brake MTB instead, not sure what the knock on effects would be regarding strength in the fork and frame...

It's a disc/rim brake mount frame and the forks are off a Surly Ogre 29er and have disc and rim brake mounts

Woohoo! The DR almost passed its WoF!
Just needs rear wheel bearings, number plate light and reflector.
$16 for a pair of 6204's and they'll go in this weekend.
They said the left fork seal was on its way out, but that's only because I clean the oil off every time I stop

Look what just arrived from Italy...
The old one was manufactured in Nov 2011.
The new one in May 2014 and has those 2 little words that instill glee in a cyclists heart. "Carbon Reinforced".
