I thought it’d be nice to throw in a “Oh, isn’t that lovely” story for a change, so here goes…

A classic bike owner made the dreams of a couple of nonagenarians come true.

Motorbike-mad pair Lilian Cook, 90, and Mary Barther, 94, had been regaling the other guests of the Oaks Nursing Home in Colchester. It seems they used to ride as pillions on their husband’s bikes in the 1930s and 1940s. So the retirement home’s activities co-ordinator found an owner of a classic bike (a 1950s BSA – I can’t find out the exact model) to come to the home and take the ladies out for a trip down memory lane – literally.

Reports say the ladies took turns in going out as pillions once again – riding sidesaddle!
