Came across this today, thought it looked bloody cool. It's not a kitset, looks like a custom job with something off a different bike (or maybe photoshop..)

I'm sure that's been photoshopped...look at the uniform wheel colour...and then compare it to the heat shield for the exhausts (which looks like it's been sitting for 20 years). I do like what I can see of the front though...rear...interesting... bit high for my liking I think! can you imagine a shortass like me sitting on that!

    Help!

    Hey all,

Have a trackday booked for Saturday and I finally got the bike running! The bad news is the tachometer isn't working. I bought this blind off yahoo Japan for little money so it may well have been busted in the description and I just didn't understand!

Anyway, does anyone have a spare they would be willing to sell and ship ASAP?

    Thanks, Luke

    Ps for an NC30

No spare Tach sorry! GP bike wreckers Tauranga might still have his?

Does anyone have a spare lower rubber flap that flops down to direct air from below carbs? Maybe luke with your hrc nc30? My project seems to be missing it.

Also going to be doing an order of bits either from David silver or rick oliver - at this stage at least for carb manifold rubbers - does anyone want to do a group by and cut down shipping?

Sorry, the only one I had is on Vinzor's bike!

With David Silvers, if you can keep the price below 60GBP then the postage will be reasonable and just royal mail. As soon as it goes over 60 GBP, they courier it with UPS and it gets expensive so really you need a small order with them!

Far out! It must have been the afternoon for older VFR's to be out & about on the North Shore today!

    A VERY nice sounding (& looking) 750F (late 80's) as well as a lovely black 750 4th-gen.

Talk about getting a sore neck!

Ouch! I bought one of GP wreckers for half that...

That guys has been trying to flog NC bits for ages but it is all over priced. I ended up buying a front master cylinder off him and it was shocking - spray painted purple and leaking like a sieve. Got it back to a decent looking and working item (entire rebuild) but swore I wouldn't buy from him again.

Good job. yeah Ive delt with the guy at GP wreckers a couple of times, nice guy, not too expensive. That guy in auckland has been parting that bike out since I owned my first one...not the cheapest on the lot!

haha just saw your modified post. yup. I bought a footrest hanger off him years ago, something like 60$ - ridiculous, but there weren't any other options at the time.
Pulled open my carbs on the project today...Green crap all through them! #18 main on one of the fronts (#15 on the other front) not to mention the spiderwebs underneath the carbs...I'm just using carb cleaner but half tempted to just dunk them in a bucket of soapy water they are so dirty! Any suggestions? the brass jets are green (oxidisation?). That or should I just take them to be ultrasonically cleaned?

I know I'm in for a set of float gaskets, but I want to try avoid buying the whole set of rubber (can all the rubber o rings etc in the rick o kit be installed without taking the carbs apart?) mainly because of the difficulty and having never done it, and 2 because it's another 50$ I don't want to spend! I was hoping to get the bike running (have finished connecting up and routing the wiring harness now, main problem is that the mount plate for the rear coil on the rear subframe isn't there (any ideas? was thinking making some aluminium brackets possibly?), prev owner has chopped the undertray (I have both bits, but think it'd look a bit naff to aryldite it back together?), missing the switch bit on the LH switchgear light (moves from high to low to park beam), and throttle grip has been changed to something aftermarket and mangled (have the original though so might just be a case of removing and putting the oem one back on as it doesn't look damaged). Oh, that and the brake calipers were seized on and wheel bearings shot I think. Haven't checked steering bearings. I like a good challenge...

What are your thoughts about fairings? I keep an eye on yahoo japan, but seriously contemplating a seller off Ioffer - can get it landed with a tank cover and aftermarket fairing infills for about 500-550$ these days! From the same jokers who I bought a cbr600f fairing set off, and that fit pretty darn good, just a bit of tweaking here and there. I also don't have any fixings - has anyone used a pro bolt kit? and what do you do at the 1/4 turn quick release fairing bit?

Not sure what is in the kit? I have stripped a few carbs - most of the time it is just the float bowl gaskets that get hard and leak. Haven't had to replace any float needles or seat yet (touch wood). Should be able to clean the jets up without any issues with some carb cleaner. Jets are pretty cheap though but if you replace - make sure you get Keihin ones rather than copies as the sizes can vary.

For fairings - I'm a real purist so I'd be looking for OEM panels to respray for a road bike. However, they would be hard to find and cost a fortune so you should consider other options.

I have some spare jets that Luke sent me that I can pass on to you if you need 'em. I think I have 115s and 118s spare.

Thanks :-) yeah hoping just float seals, my last set needed everything though, not sure why but everything had gone and it literally leaked from every hole with rubber (except the floats cause I'd replaced those) it could! Thanks Vincent, I have a whole lot of jets somewhere, and didn't get to the front of the carbs last night, so 1) hoping that the other 118 and 115 are there, and 2) I'm pretty sure I have spare 115 and 118's in my box of bits.

Given it is a stocker, I'm assuming I go by Cammo's guide and keep the 115 and 118's in there? the only flap I'm missing as I said before is the one to cool the carbs, I still have the bit that pressurises the airbox, and snorkel is still all there.

Grrr - the new tacho didn't resolve the issue

I have 13v and a good earth. I also have continuity on the pulse wire back to the CDI. Which now makes me think it could be the culprit

Does anyone have a CDI in Wellington that I may borrow for 30 mins to test to see if it is my CDI? Only have a few days before the track day

    Thanks
    Luke

Think I have it sorted! Don't think I needed the tacho in the end but there you go!

    Thanks
