Anyone know how long it's been around, had one, how do they handle etc, other bad bits in general? We've heard there can be electrical probs with the oranges?

Your opinions please, thanks in advance.
Some good comments above. The 640's aren't especially known for electrical problems but the Adv's can have issues with the wires flexing & failing at the back of the ignition switch, a well placed zip-tie or two will prevent that.

Everything you ever wanted to know about 640's: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86958

Dunno anything about that particular machine but for $7.5K I'd be wanting it to be in pretty good condition, at around $10K I'd be looking for a 690 instead.

    Cheers

    I really liked that Husky.

It had none of the issues with the engine that the early F650s did.
It was the bike that BMW should have made.

Well my gosh you have opened up a can of Orange and Red worms, don't envy you at all

I gunna say it will have to be horses for courses, what are you really going use your new stead for the most most

    Brief thoughts

690 well you know about this one, said by many to be best al round ADV bike made

500, just plain cool, 170kph dirt bike with lights

Freeeride, steedy as she goes anywhere but not very fast or for long

Husky, good Price, heavier than the rest but if that doesn't matter to much. bonzer

Might bump this into the right place for the long term report

    690. Done. Just get the right wrappings round the motor to suit your porpoise.

A good deal to be had here if mileage genuine http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/moto...-759638671.htm
You'd think if it was still so new he'd give it a decent wash before taking the pics...

been following that one. I do question why you would fit all the longrange kit and only do 2.5K on it, maybe legit though?

Yes, suppose some people can afford to lose a few dollars. But would make much more sense to put the OEM tank, carb and pipe back on and sell as LAMS ready then easily get couple k for all the extras separately... If I ever sell mine that's what I'd do.

And some people work pretty hard for what they have

...... and then you have too deal with all the tight wads and multiple auctions getting rid of the extras after bike is gone .
A lot less stress doing it in one hit.

Haven't done much riding at all The last year .Took my 7 yr old son out for a ride on sat , and that was the nail in the coffin. I'll be 2 up on a lot more trips in future , and the dr650 will sit in garage . Life changes , so I must too
Good buy for someone , genuine km's , was replacement for HOTS bike after the engine let go , All the extras barr carb were swapped across, so wasn't a big cost . std bikes are dime a dozen on trademe.......

Cheers hopefully new owner rides it a bit more
BTW factory warranty void soon as you modify. Had two instances myself both on standard bikes and Suzuki squirmed every which way to try avoid paying out on the new parts required.

Couple of KLX 400's on TM, one on each island, These are basically green DRZ's aren't they? The Auckland one seems well priced for the mileage?

Yup, Basically a DRZ400E, (higher comp engine, Keinhen carb) with just enough S bits to be road legal standard. As a swiss army knife sorta dirt bike they're hard to beat, there's lots of machines that do particular things better but very few that do as much as well for the money.

Crikey, like buses. Nothing for ages then they all come at once. I'm in the process of importing one. Just had a PM yesterday from Boo I think enquiring about one.
