Seven years jail for leaving biker to die

A teenager has been jailed for seven years for leaving a biker to die following a road accident. The biker died in hospital after he was hit by a stolen Rover Metro as he waited at traffic lights in Beech Hill, Wigan.

Driver Shaun Unsworth of Chorley, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving at Liverpool Crown Court. His accomplice David Hirst, 19, and a 17-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were jailed for four months each after admitting aggravated vehicle taking.

After sentencing, DC Tony McFadden said: "The tragic death of Phil Taylor was a result of the defendant Unsworth's dangerous and reckless manner of driving.

"In the current climate of sentences given out for this type of crime, the police hope this is a stern warning to any person committing similar offences in the future. These three people have shown little or no remorse for their actions and I feel that the sentences passed today reflect the seriousness of this. All three were well aware that the car they were driving was stolen and knew that they had collided with Philip and just left him dying in the road in an attempt to evade any repercussions."

    sad. and stupid.

And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.
