What are you doing to get more peeeps in to biking?

Obviously we all know the delights of riding a bike, the proof is that we are on here singing the praises of this activity that adds a part to our lives as nothing else can.

But what are you doing to spread the word?

My contribution for the last 2 years has been to introduce biking to the life of young riders, and this School Holidays I am doing it again:

MX Holiday Programme In HB We now have a few bikes for the ones who do not yet have one, giving them the opportunity to "try before they buy".

I have also got two of my boys hooked. There are a few ladies who, as a result of getting to know me, now ride bikes. And in my younger years I was active in clubs that promoted the "lifestyle".

May the bridges I burn light the way.

Got the girlfriend riding. Don't want to be responsible for anyone else getting into it. Have had a few mates ask but I can just see them ending up in a ditch and I know I would feel partially responsible if that did happen.

    Yea I'm sorta with sil3nt ^
If a mate wants to get into biking I'll help em out, but I'm not about to go converting people.
I think bikes should be left to those that want/love them, generally this would come from childhood. They're just too dangerous to be converting people to the lifestyle, sure I'd talk about it & how great it is but the decision must be their own IMO.

    Absolutely nothing.

First off there will be less free parking spaces for me and secondly they can hurt. If anyone is convinced by my adrenaline fueled grin when I get to work on the shittiest of days then I might give them a few pointers, otherwise I think people should come to their own decision. No different to religion really.

    Apart from the sodomy, obviously.

In my experience if someone wants to ride they will follow it up themselves, or they won't last.
It's amazing how many mates GFs and wives are secretly turned on by seeing sports bikes in my garage, but there is no way their man is going to have one.

Do my best to live by Katmans rules of engagement !
To the point I even Leave the triple at home and save it for the track, that sort of shit lol

Oh and do Harley rides at schools a couple or three times a year (i'm the one with the mothers on the back)

    Sponsor racers !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

    yes yes yes NO!

I don't trust any of my mates to stay alive more than 5 minutes riding, so I tell them how good it feels on a bike and leave it at that.

The govt. are trying to fix that last part for you with virtual sodomy via ACC levies etc.

The difference to religion is I wont evangelise. People know I ride and I enjoy it but for me it is more a transport option than religion or lifestyle. If people want to ride I will talk to them about it, including the hassards, and assist where I can but they have to make the choice firstly and honestly.

Have to own to assisting at least two onto motorised two wheels because they wanted to. Scary when they do their first big ride or when they text to tell you they've had an off.

I wish I could convince more people to get into it. Most just write it off as being too dangerous. Which sucks, cos I'd love to go on weekend rides with mates..
