    KB Wiki

    http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/wiki/

    Mission Statement.

"This Wiki has been created in response to the demand for a central repository to collate a large number of tips & techniques that have been posted on the KiwiBiker forums. It is designed to provide a comprehensive reference library for all motorcycle enthusiasts encompassing various riding techniques and tips on all other aspects of motorcycling such as servicing, safety gear and purchasing a bike. This will enable bikers to locate information on specific riding topics without having to resort to fuzzy searches that may take some time to sort the good stuff from the clutter."

I'd like to thank Kray for his work on creating the framework for the Wiki and his ideas and contributions.

This is an extension of KB and it is yours to contribute to. It will have a distinct Kiwi flavour and we hope it becomes the resource of choice for Kiwi motorcyclists to seek out factual information relevant to motorcycling in NZ.

For the next couple of months I would appreciate your input via the Information Thread set up by Cajun and Mental Trousers. Please remember that the content of the Wiki needs to be generated largely by you lot, and Copyrighted material cannot be posted directly onto the Wiki, either directly, or via links to sites, or especially, secure sites requiring logins to be published on the Wiki to provide access.

The format will be played with, the content manipulated and moderated and you will want things to be different. A bit like KB itself. The Wiki is for factual information. Bike shops, tyres, riding schools, license requirements, tips on managing on ACC and so on. If you can think of it and it will help a fellow motorcyclist then it will go in the Wiki. KB will remain the vibrant discussion Forum it is.

    The heart of KB.

The Wiki will become the cold dry floating head, filled with dusty facts and plans for terrible motorcycle powered super weapons.

    That is totally random.

    But a happy fluke.

    For me.

    It will change tomorrow

So whos expert opinion is going to be used to back up this information...because a big amount of tips and advice posted on this site are opinion and wifes tails rather that fact and helpful???

Given the short comings of my riding style, it doesn't matter what I'm riding till I've got my shit in one sock.

Once it is running properly, the information in it should be self correcting if people maintain the standards required to keep this a useful resource. If something is demonstrably wrong, you can simply remove or request the removal or editing of a particular article. This should be encyclopedic in scope, not "Terry Glum's opinions on why young motorcyclists should be harvested by Sea Trolls".

The articles must be factual in content and rigorous peer review (that's you lot - we're all doomed) will ensure that utter tosh isn't represented as fact.

Personal comment and opinion may be referred to in its original location, such as pritch008's review of one Pat Hahn's books. The review (an opinion) isn't on the Wiki, but the book's Author, Title and ISBN 10 & 13 numbers are - they are fact.

Which you are going to get around the head if you don't stop poking your woad covered mug into the affairs of proper grown-ups!
