Hey forum
Are these guys still in business, they seem to only have a facebook page with very little activity and their website is broke. I could try calling them but who has the time during biz hours?

Have not been a Honda dealer for ages. Still there, unsure what if any specific brand they have as I can account for the major ones and exotic ones (MV etc) elsewhere.
parts: parts@hamptonmotorcycles.co.nz
sales: sales@hamptonmotorcycles.co.nz

I called in a couple of weeks ago. Lot of P & A inventory, not many bikes. two staff on in FOH (mid week) not sure about workshop.
As others said not a Honda dealer. Also a for lease/for sale sign out front.
I thought elections were decided by angry posts on social media. - F5 Dave
They pride themselves on their range and display. For example their ladies gear section is almost as big as the entire gear section at ACS, and much bigger than the entire gear and parts section at Norjo's.
They're getting Honda consumables from overseas and they're moving building, they've got a pretty cool plan ahead.
Best place for gear in Christchurch, maybe New Zealand?

I think I recall that they were better off not being a branded dealer and being restricted. They have tools and equipment for multiple brands, so service several?
Very helpful when we're down that way...

A 'no brand' dealer? wonder if they are doing used imports? Suppose I could always pop in :-)
Probably had more brand changes than any other dealer in chch
Still remember the old days when they were in the Branston buildings selling hondas in one half of the shop & pushies in the other.
That's a definite. And the ones they've had - Yamaha and BMW come to mind - have struggled to regain footing here afterwards due to poor pricing policy by Hamptons.
Personally I'd doubt if specialising in accessories and clothing would work in the ChCh market, particularly with the high ground rentals now common.
Near 20yrs since Hampton had the yamaha dealership so the landscape has changed a fair bit since then Tommy had pulled the pin & was sharing premises with Kevin at his shop on Durham st.
Monarch had closed its doors in Hornby and Bob McCleary was just finding his feet in Rangiora & The ex Tommy's salesman was struggling with a fledgling business in Linwood so Yamaha was out in the cold in chch. Trevor Pierce wasn't brand affiliated till the shop in Linwood died & hampton lost it.
Hamptons 2nd site was imo the best store in chch (at the time & now) for layout just the ease of access to the place was horrid.
Ha - I helped Grunter get the Yamaha sub agency going. Mollers reckoned that there were no road bike parts sales in ChCh while Hamptons had the agency. They told us that it would be 95% farm parts and maybe 5% road. Once it became known how Grunter was pricing stuff the road bikes came out of sheds and parts flew out the door. From a hole in the wall in Linwood ave, top parts sales in NZ for 2 years...
