Bloody Hell.....Sort of thinking to me self....Dusty Butt on a 1989 aprilia or a DR650....
Thanks, think you made my mind up. Although, the DR behaved itself down there tremendously!
Little Hic-cups, weld here and there, but.....loved it and the bike

The Good the Bad and the Ugly

    The Good
Finally got out on DR yesterday morning, headed out to some cliff top metal roads at Murawai hoping for the best in regards to fuel leak problems, bike was running awesome and I;d forgotten how good these DRs Bigs are.

    The Bad
As I reached my destination (pictures to follow) bike stalled once idling

    and the Ugly
Fuel coming out air filter box overflow tube

    The Good and Bad again
turned fuel off waited a while, turned fuel on bike started and rode Hm, stalled once at lights and redid ritual, arrived home and Dr sat there idling refusing to stall or leak fuel. Drats make up your mind man

    The Ugly
Me for the rest of the day after that trial

fuel into airbox normally means the float valve o-rings worn, sr41 thing.
did those dudes at the bike shop actually do anything.

cool photos mate... i still reckon those SR41's are the best looking BIG's

Shop has ordered Needle valve assembly (and O ring that goes behind it, I hope)

so should be sweet after that.

Apart from that DR was running real nice, seems a little smoother now with perhaps even a little more power with new rings and bearing and all,

New rear bag from Aussie also working good and a fair bit lighter than the boxes. (KTM one weighs 6kg on its own)

Hope to catch up when Big is all back together for a good metal thrash out your way (and perhaps a swap around of bikes for a bit)

    DR Rides Again

Well it has finally happened, DR Big is back on the road, the money tree is empty but after one proper ride I'd have to say it was worth it

New main jet assemblies and floats have finally fixed the flooding problem and the old girl (24years is old in motorcycle terms) goes beaut.

It took half an hour to do the 55 ks from Murawia to South Head along the beach, somewhat encouraged by a V8 Hylux ute that travel most of the distance with me cruised at 100- 110 most of the way with the occasional burst up to 140 for good measure.

But that was just the beginning

    Merry Christmas

Phew finally finished work, thanks guys for the Christmas wishes and hope to catch up with some of you next year,
Dino would be easiest just being down the road and all and have been promising to bring his baby home for a ride

Will continue my ride story now

So I'm up the end of south head thinking its time to head into the dunes and test this baby out, drop the tire pressures down to 20psi which is enough to ride home on after (that reminds me need to pump them back up now)

So with a lump in my throat at the thought of getting a 170kg dirt bike stuck in the sand with not a soul around to help I headed for them hills, DR had plenty of power and was able to be lugged and still pull though without and issue and finally got to the base of the Monster dune where I stopped for the traditional V and peanut slab

Sure was... That bike has a good pedigree
Those Heidenaus lasted well. Trouble free six days apart from the gear change lever snapping. Is it still showing the great welding job that Shrek did or have you replaced it? He was a marvel with the repair. Doing half the first day in second gear wasn't though..

By the way, this site is interesting...
