Was out at the Enduro up Speargrass Station today. Got a bit rainy...
Hit a solid band of rain on the way back through 88 Valley. Had to lift the visor and slow to 20kph as the road was just a vague grey blur. Lasted for about a km. Not nice.

Wairoa Valley closed for logging but you can still get up to the Ben Nevis car Park.

Inwards Lookout is also closed. They have bulldozed the road that the bottom and build a skid site is it's place.

The Milky Bars are on me!

Must have picked up a tourist hitchhiker and let them drive.

Interesting. That's a public easement all the way to the lookout.
As is the Boundary Rd loop up Ben Nevis, but they don't damage the road there.

Weather looks OK for Saturday morning and should last to get a ride in. I don't think it'll be a good weekend for doing the Molesworth / Rainbow unless you like riding in rain.

Thinking of heading out Saturday morning and heading over the Maungatapu. Also have a couple other places I'd like to explore if anyone else would care to join me?

Got a little wet but nothing too bad. I find that we are often forecast to get more rain than we actually do get.

Went for a blat to get gas at St.Arnaud this arvo via the Braeburn, Porlka, Howard then turned round & headed back to the Tutaki. Was funny as fuck on the way back because about 1/3 of the way down the Porika, I come across these two young Kraut blokes in a little van
They'd managed to get their 2 wheels drive van 2/3rds of the way up the Porika before bottoming it out in a knarly bit, then managed to reverse about 200 m before being able to do a 50 point turn...
I pulled up & asked if the needed any help & they said "na" ,then I complemented them on how well they'd done & they laughed so I asked why the bonnet was up & they replied "Oh the van is a little hot"

Was wet enough to make me realise that my jacket sucks.

Classic I had a sniff up there in our Subaru Outback a couple of years back. Gave up at about the 3rd hairpin. Glad I did cos after riding it a couple of months back I now know that it would have ended badly in a car.

Here's a pic from the ride in January
