    Hi Al,

Yes it is indeed. That is the number you need to get printed up at sign writer and place on number boards on bike.
Have a look at your Rule book, it'll tell you the colour of backing boards you need for your class and some minimum dimensions which you'll need to get the sign writer to produce the actual numbers to.

Actually, if you go into the bike shops, they have vinyl numbers in packets of 3 - usually in white and black. Cost you about $9 and way cheaper than a signwriter.

Those numbers don't normally comply with the mnz regs on size

    most of them do,

and Alister for club level MX you do not have to worry about getting the colour for the class right, as long as they are clear to read you will be fine

At club level, having clear, easily-read numbers are more important to the officials than meeting MNZ colour and size requirements. Aim for the MNZ standards but don't stress about it or break the bank.

All racers I know aren't in it for the money. They race because it's something inside of them... They're not courting death. They're courting being alive.

    most of them do,
I would disagree with that, I had to have mine made as no shop had them in the correct size

However I would agree that as long as they are clear to read you will be fine and with increasing transponder use it's become less important to the riders, however it was bought up at the MNZ agm regarding spectators and commentators being able to read them and I think from what was said they will be policing it a bit harder than they have in the past
