Myself, and some mates (all road-bikers) are thinking about hiring 4 dirtbikes for a day, just to have a go.
Anyone know if there's anywhere in Auckland that hires them, and good places for 4 off-road newbies to have a crack?

no one seems to care
Last year I asked James at Thunder and he said $170 for a day (bike and kit) - but like Noobi says - give em a call - prices might have changed slightly - bikes are mostly Suzuki's. Awesome place to have a go mate.
Cheers

The Kawasaki shop on Barrys Point Road has some bikes for hire. Seen at least one KDX200 there. Look them and give them a call if you're in Auckland.

id suggest cavewete, not only do u get the bikes, but he will give you pointers along the way to make things more enjoyable. road bikes and dirt bikes both have 2 wheels and an engine. thats about where the similaritys end!
James now charges $200 for the day. 10 bikes to choose from.
Cave Weta's rides seem pretty good though.

There you go Gubb - your ride is free(providing you take 3 mates)! - and if you dont have fun with this guy - then dirtbiking is not for you.
Give him a go-he'll look after you and give you guys a day to remember as well as teaching you bloody good stuff!

Hey Gubb, each time I'm back in NZ I go down and hire one of Jame's DRZ's. I've done it a few times now so in the end he was only charging me $100 for the day as I had my own gear and always rode with a couple of others on their own bikes. I found the bikes were always in good condition and easy to ride, they're probably not great for really experienced guys but for beginner and intermediate level riders like me its a pretty good deal.
Over The Top also looks pretty good and I'll hopefully be down to give that a go over X-Mas / New Year.
Hey if you end up going to thundercross give me a yell (021 850 581), I live quite close to there and would be keen to join you. I'm a road biker who has spent a just a few hours on offroad bikes so still an offroad newbie. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
