Here's that road/track. Started off quite easy.

    Scenic

A bit skiddy in places. I was starting to have thoughts about a recent Naki ride.

Well and truely lost. About to head back, but thought I might as well carry on.

Plenty of gates. I was quite glad to see this one.

The track is quite well formed, as if it was a proper road a long time ago. Certainly a summer job on crap tyres. Just like a crappy farm track. Nothing too exciting.

Now the beach at the end of that road, that's a different story... Hawkes Bay's best kept secret.

Cheers. I'm getting better at this photography thing. I get the horizon straight in about half of my shots now. In another 20 years I might have nailed it.

I'll put more pics up on the other website tomorrow.

    Hey Guys,

I’ve been lurking round here soaking up a load of info and asking a few questions of late, and now I’ve finally got to the point of having a License, Gear and a Bike!! Well almost, I get my kit on Wednesday then pick up my bike on Thursday, all going well.
Anyway, now that I have some gear it would be great to get out on some rides, I’ve only just started riding, though I did a bit of off-road riding years ago, I’m not going to be fast but am definitely keen to get out on some rides. If you’re heading out on a ride and think a novice on a KLX250 might make the cut it would be awesome if I could tag along!!

    Cheers
    Mike

Welcome MikealmostOnABike. There's bound to be some rides coming up closer to summer that will be suitable. There's not much going on at present due to the weather.

Eddie, Eddie, Eddie ................ read the ride threads for the South Island and you may pick up the excitment of the different challenges cold weather riding throws up ie NADS organising a snow ride (although those blokes are just mad!) - don't they sell jackets in the North Island?

Haha, after 2 London winters as a m/c courier riding a minimum of 10 hours a day through 2 months of sleet and snow each winter I've done more snow miles than you've had hot dinners.

But actually it's been quite mild here but has rained a fair bit. I don't mind cold but I'd rather not do the rain unless there's a good excuse.

Heya Mike, welcome bro! I learnt to ride on a DR 250 around Wellington and remember how much fun it was. I envy you!

I might be up for a ride this weekend or next - just depends on whether I'm going out bush with a mate, but I'm baching it so time is my own. Rain hail or shine, I'll ride.

Got a near bald D606 on the back of my big bike so I'm pretty sure you wont be slowing me down!

What sort of riding do you want to do?

PS, I know a wee hill in the Wairarapa we can use to get your skills up...
There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.

Haha, i can understand Eddieb not wanting to hang out in the rain etc, but I have new toys so really want to get out, I only have the 22/23 to get out for a ride as I'm away for August. Though I'll be back in September and keen for more rides.

Anyway, buggsubique, I'd be keen to get out for a ride on the 22/23rd if you're keen. As for what sort of riding, not sure what you're meaning, definitely some offroad, probably not huge distance first time out, and not too extreme, but yeah, how hard can it be to keep up with a big bike and a bald tyre?? hahaha
    Got any suggestions?
What's this hill in the Wairarapa?
