    Bird strike at over 240kph

On the way to Paeroa the SV got hit by a suicidal bird.

Honest officer, I wasn’t speeding, it was the bird that was doing over 240kph. Must’ve picked up speed in a dive.

Hate to think what it would have done if it hit my visor.

How to tenderise a sparrow (???)
first - get your timing right
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Obviously the bird hadn't had a "V" today, probably thought it could go straight through

I would hazard a guess that disintergrated would be a better term

wow, lucky in a way. I've seen birds hitting bikes at slower and doing a lot of damage in the process. I've seen them take out headlights, farings etc, no idea what would have happened if it had been your helmet or body.. I'd bad enough with bugs and stones hitting you body, let alone small furry animals!

all that was left was feathers on the helmet..

    What a payload...

It was obviously a gutsy bird to take you on - you can tell... it'as guts is still all over your bike!

Which reminds me of a joke -

What's the last thing to go through a bees mind when it hits your windscreen at 80kph?

    It ARSE Ta da!
(ok - it's not the best... but under the circumstances)

Good luck with the insurance claim dude... assuming there is one.

Ouch! That bird will have a sore head! I've heard of people being hit by birds on their shoulders etc & end up with huge brusies or bloody noses from birds flying into their face.

I killed a couple on my travels.

    poor thing

Just thinking, if that had been my bike (and a few other models for that matter), it'd have been the airscoop - that could be interesting..

I think that bird is past sore heads.

In fact, I rather suspect that it is no more. It has ceased to be. It has expired, and gone to meet its maker. It's a stiff. Bereft of life, it rests in peace. It's metabolic processes are now history. It's off the twig. It's kicked the bucket, it's shuffled off this mortal coil, it's run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible.

It is, in fact, an ex-sparrow.
