Don't worry too much about getting your hands on a bike just yet. A little bird tells me NZ isn't getting many this year. Dealers report a good level of nterest but can't get stock.

The masterplan involves shipping them all to the northern hemisphere which is currently covered in ice and snow.

The southern hemisphere, which is currently enjoying whatever it is that we're having instead of a summer this year, will presumably start to receive bikes in time for next winter? Or winter 2011?

He spent 7 minutes prattling on about how they do things at BMW this way or that way but what he really meant was: "We copied the Yamaha R6 but then we tweaked the design and made it asymmetric so that no one could blame us for it".

In conclusion, the odd headlight was done to reduce 300 grams.

Still, it wasn't Chris Bangle's design so all good.

I have just sold my 08 GSXR750 so I can move to a 1000cc. I test rode a new CBR1000rr, then the GSXR1000, then rode the new BMW s 1000RR. And the BMW was easily the most outstanding bike of all three. Felt faster, felt more stable, turned in and stopped like the Honda. But seemed to have the edge. Unbelievable would describe it best.

    Yawn. Too ugly.

"We could have made the lights more useful on this, which is after all a road bike, but it would have cost us 300 grams". Thanks a bunch.

First sportsbike I've ever sat on where I can actually see behind me in the mirrors without having to make my arms/elbows/shoulders invisible.

Thats a really good review all the electronic abs/traction management stuff is quite interesting, similar to a project idea I was mucking round with bout a year ago (this one) remember thinking at the time whats the bet bmw will come out with something better before I finish Though with 193bhp a heavy dose of traction management is a must I reckon, fuck thats almost 4x what I'm riding atm with no weight gain If I had one I'd prolly just stick it on rain mode for ever

Also, styling is pretty sweet, a very distinctive look.

Bogan BMW has obviously stolen your idee.

Not a lot of SV1000 left on mine mate Besides, if I want to ride a good handling or powerful bike, I'll ride my blade (which will eat an 08 GSXR750 in every respect ). None of which changes the fact that the S1000 has a face that only a mother could love, and that green is an ugly rip off of a TL1000S colour (an interesting design choice if ever there was one).

If they want me to buy the first model of something like that, at that price, and it'll need to be a better looking carrot being dangled. Having said that... other than the Repsol version, the current model blade colours were pretty darn uninspiring, and the American versions completely naff.
