time for some new tyres for the ugly duckling r1100gs
was thinking tkc80 or mitas eo7 something agro like that
but am i'm also thinking selling it and getting something lighter like a f650 or dr650
would like to be able to take it trout fishing, shingle roads are no prob for the big duck but river beds are
putting off road tyres on a 260kg bike am i kidding myself ?
anyone had experience going from road bias tyres to off road bias tyres ?
blah blah blah
go with the Eo7's as they make them for our bikes now & theres not to many places you can't go with themThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Next stage looks like I will have to make my own rear subframe. GSers
How much rear travel would you have on that?
Does anyone know the max you can get out of a mono & para?
In life as in dance Grace glides on blistered feet
I have been at the front universal yokes with the dremel and relieved the articulation angels. The 1150GS ADV is rated at 220mm of rear wheel travel. I am going to restrict this to 250mm I could get another 10-15mm but I think 250 should be OK The front forks have 300mm of travel but vertical wheel travel is 275mm.
I searched the net on the question and the 4WD guys are running up to 25Deg out of universals on there drive lines I am running 22Deg so I think it should be OK time will tell I suppose.

Thanks Aslan, how is your shoulder going? What did Howie do to his leg? You guys have been knocking yourselves around. I hope I have had my share of that when I was younger. Back to the bike yeah I am happy so far, had a stand on the foot pegs today and I was surprised that the bars felt in the right place I might just get some risers to lift them up abit. I thought they would have had to come back towards me a alot but I had to push the bars forward so thats good. It feels small. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

So glad I reverted to a two valve GS after a decade of fuel injected GS singles!
Gearbox (1993 R80GS) removed today to find and rectify the source of noise, glittery flakes in the oil and sludge on the drain plug.
The gearbox input shaft splines needed greasing anyway.......and a good chance to check electrical connections, reseat the heat sink etc while waiting for the diagnosis and then the parts to arrive. Hope I don't need this corner of the garage for a few weeks.

Sh*t doesn't just "happen". There is always an a*sehole involved.
Pampera, there was one on trade me the other day for sale not sure if the R100 and the GS are the same but you can never have to many spares?
GSers
Hi GSers, I took an impact on my Ankle on the same part of the ride Where Aslan hurt his shoulder. I didn't actually think it was that bad, like a couple of Nurofen Morning and night for 2 days then no more pain killers. Rode for another 10 days around the south island, then back to work and that was when the Ankle started to swell up quite bad as it was out of bike boots. Xray showed I have broken a bit of bone off in a non load bearing area. So in a cast for 6 weeks. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
