oooh no i already have a bike like that....nope new car has a 50mm tow bar/ball and it seems that ALL hire trailers are 1 and 7/8 so looking at a little folding one for cheap.looks like the couplings can be swapped for about 50 bucks. The tow ball cant be changed its intergral with the arm that connects and disconnects into a special fitting in behind the rear bumper

I'm not saying let's go kill all the stupid people...I'm just saying let's remove all the warning labels and let the problem sort itself out.

I don't see that happening in a hurry - as you say, all the hire trailers are 1 7/8", and so therefore are most cars. If they decided to enforce 50mm on hire trailers, of course, they'd start falling off.

I take it you bought the car with the towbar on it? Otherwise I'd say it's not fit for purpose :-)

Those aren't screw holes underneath the ball, I take it?

yes the towball came with the car....cant say its not fit for purpose a 50mm ball is just as legal as a 1 7/8 just not common on a car, most braked trailers will have a 50mm coupling
