One of the Auckland NC30's has ticked over into the 100,000+km zone about a year ago with no major engine work needed yet - not sure about the 800's though.

    Yep, that's my NC30 that's over the 100k hump.

Had the heads off at about 95k I think, looked damn near new in there apart from a water pump impeller that had rusted to disintegration (abuse by a previous owner, plain water for coolant, I'd guess) and distributed itself evenly around the engine.

I am looking to trade my cruiser for a VFR800 vtec. Sort of cant decide on paying extra around $11000 for a post 06 model with lower Ks. Or trade for a 02 version (which im leaning towards) which has done over 50,000ks for much cheaper.

Do the older ones have more probs than the post 06 versions? Or is 50,000k nothing for that type of engine?

Also thinking about resell value, by the time im done, it will prob be around 90,000K when i sell it next.. should be okay i guess.

I know nothing much about these semi sports bike, have only really ridden cruisers haha *hides in shame*

    Opinions?
FWIW, my VFR800 has over 100,000 km on it, but it's the 2001 (5th Gen) model, so doesn't have those pesky camchains and even peskier camchain tensioners. (This was quite deliberate: I test-rode and '02 model and the '01, but decided the Vtec sucked).
I've done quite a bit to it, but all in the name of improvement - no mechanical or other problems. Haven't even checked the valve clearances in the last 7 years or so, and the only maintenance (apart from the aforementioned improvements) has been the usual (plugs, fluids, tyres, chain/sprockets, filters, etc.)

There's been lots of VFRs with HUGE mileages - a courier in the UK got over 850,000 miles from one). But even the Vtec ones are OK, and should give many years and many thousands of km of trouble-free motoring. The main issues (apart from camchain tensioners getting tired) are electrical - a few of them had issues with connectors in the wiring and with dodgy earthing of the wiring harnesses.
The later models should be better in that the Vtec engagement is remapped, and less annoying.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

So I have decided that everything else can fuck off until I am done with racing bikes. And now I am entered in the Vic club winter series on my vfr. Looking at borrowing some stands and warmers off a friend so I have grip right off the line.

    I can't wait for this weekend !

Oh dear. Hopefully mechanical, and not a racing mishap?

If you're missing any spares of the above, just let me know and I'll have a hunt through my NC30 boxes in the attic.

I suggest a gin'n tonic to repair your pride.

    Primo, very good of you.

The forks might be ok, if I undo the triple clamps and align them.. I tried gluing my pride back together with a bottle of rum. All of the glue seems to have been too much and came back up this morning..

As for the rest, top radiator, fairings and footpegs, I am in the hunt for some.. Any leads would be fantasmagorical.
