    790 kit for sale

I have a brand new 790 kit for sale, already fitted to a cylinder for a "plug and play" into your DR. It was intended for mine but for various reasons it won't be getting fitted before our TAT trip and the money would be of more use on the trip.
PM me if you are interested.

    Thumbs up NSU screw problem

Sit down for a heads up. Suzuki may have fixed the NSU screw problem on the 2012 model

Someone opened up a 300km old DR and found hex head screws in it already.
Now to see if the NSU bolt holes have metal sleeves.

One of my sons has married an Aussie girl. Now hang on a minute, this is not all bad. She's actually delightful, her parents live in Brisbane and her Dad's into 4WD.

You see where this is going??????

Some riding in Oz with a support vehicle available!!!!!

Now, the last time i did this, the bike was heavily laden and long stretches of deep rutted sand were just exhausting. However, with a Landcruiser chugging along behind and no luggage on the bike, I could conceivably attack that stuff with a bit more vigour.

All the people who should know, appear to say that a steering damper is essential for deep rough sand at speed.

My question is this........ does anyone know of a steering damper that will go on on the DR with a Safari tank fitted?
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.

How often do you fellas change your plugs? My thing's starting to miss sometimes. Guess I should pull them out and have a look.

50,000km out of a pair of twin electrode CR10EK's.
Still in usable condition but a pair of Iridium beasties went in for the DB1K.

It's probably been discussed plenty but search won't tell me about it: What fuel do you use in your DR650?

I alternated between 91 and 95 when I bought mine and decided that it went further on a tank of 91 and ran the same in all other respects. My bike has had no power increasing modifications.

I feel it's smoother on 96 but has a better bottom end on 91.

On George (my 99 yellow DR) with snorkel removed, TL1000 pipe and Phreaky Phil midpipe plus carb needle raised one clip I was getting about 315 to reserve per IMS tank on 95, about 305 on 91.

The Blue 05 bike is currently between modifications and gets appalling economy at the moment, 265-275 per tank on 95. I haven't run it on 91.

That's about what I'm getting, but I know my thing's running rich.

I like 95. In my imagination it runs better. In reality, it's probably bugger all different.

I have tried 95, it didnt change the gas milage and I didnt notice that it ran any better so iv'e run it on 91 since. It doesn't have the compresion ratio to need 95. Jetting makes a huge difference to the economy. With my FCR as it came back from MXRob with US jetting, I was stuggling to get 15kml. A bit of jetting it later and i'm between 19-20kml. I reckon I can get it a bit better with more time.
