The Interislander is the best known and longest running ferry service across Cook Strait. The whole trip is 92km and takes 3 hours. The actual distance between the North and South Islands is considerably less. The extra distance is due to a large part of this trip going through the beautiful Marlborough Sounds. It has been described as one of the most beautiful ferry rides in the world.
