Petrol
New Zealand has two grades of petrol commonly available, regular and premium. The Ministry of Economic Development sets the standard[1] for petrol.
Petrol in New Zealand has its octane rating measured on the RON scale. It is typically red in colour.

Regular
Regular petrol is what most road motorcycle bikes are using. It has to have a minimum octane rating of 91.
Premium
Premium petrol has to have a minimum octane rating of 95. Some BP petrol stations sell premium petrol with a rating up to 98 RON.
Bio Fuel
Bio Fuel is sold in New Zealand by Gull, it is a mixture of 10% bio ethanol and 90% regular unleaded petrol. It is sold in two different versions, a regular and a regular plus. The bio ethanol is a created from a by-product from dairy industry activity. Gull Bio Fuel is available predominately in Auckland.
