View Full Version : What will your next bike be?

Big Dave

According to the poll on the KR site - over 30% will go dual sport or adventure bike next.

Poll is on the front page.
http://www.kiwirider.co.nz/index.html

Adv bike riders:
I'd appreciate some input on the blog page too - If KTM or BMW or other ADV owners would care to leave a summary of their ADV bikes as comments:
http://kiwiridermagazine.blogspot.com/2009/05/kr-poll-30-going-advds.html

or post on here and I'll paste 'em in.

defiantly something that can handle the gravel and mud better than the RR. Had a ball on the 640 Adventure I rode in Europe and would be a little better suited to come of the goat tracks that pass as roads in this country.

Next bike ................ sooo way down the $ priority list that I can't even think of one.

Dual thingy - at the risk of being call 'gay' half the appeal of a bike to me is physical - if it does not look right I'll not purchase it (F-off you lot ready to bag my current ride :bleh:)

So as far as dual purpose goes the Triumph Scrambler 'looks' like a proper motorcycle to me - drop in some Thunderbike cams and pipes and I'd be happy.

Or a stripped down cruiser thingy.

Street/Speed triple......... yum

You are happy, aren't you??

It doesn't take much. A few million dollars and unlimited power and I'd be cool.

Yeah I'm happy. Co-pilot has been visiting the kids in Hobart and I've been livin' la vida sofa and doing that stuff that married men rarely get a chance to do in SMQ. Like tinned spaghetti on toast for 2 meals in the same day. Choice.

Edit: And thanks for the comments - just came through. You are the first person to comment on the Kiwi Rider blogsite. Chairs!

Any of the 4-5 600cc IL4's, 1125c/r or if I'm really ballsy, a ZX14 cause they so sexy

I'm not getting rid of my Tiger but I have already started to save for a Daytona 955. Doesn't compete with the GSXRs but I don't want it to. It is just a great looking/feeling/sounding bike and big enough to take my frame (don't like the new smaller ones).

But where to stop - so I made the 'other' option for hard liners like you :-P

I don't think about my next bike until someone's bike breaks down and I get to wonder whether I'd like one of those too.

But it appears I've gone off on another tack - a streettracker is more suited to the riding I do...gravel and back roads.I've made a different sort of dual purpose, and one I can convert from streettracker to tourer in 30mins with a wheel and seat change.

Maybe ER6-N or SV650 - going to have lots of fun testing.....

Before I was recently thrown out of the family business (a great accomplishment I must admit) and became what is known as unemployed and getting desperate I was in the process of buying a second bike, I was looking at something that would be good for track days and uh....thrashing.

So I had whittled it down to either a TRX 850 or a slightly worked CBR600.

Now of course I'm surviving on recycled newspaper and chicken skin so no new bike of any sort for me.

I'll probably go for a cruiser.

I've always had sports bikes and off road bikes but I hired a Harley in Queenstown a while ago and fell in love. I really liked the riding position and felt I could comfortably ride like that from one end of the country to the other and back. My wife also liked it and supports the pending purchase.

I don''t want a Harley. I'm going for a Boulevard. Minimum 800cc. It's already on my 12 month goal list.

New KTM SM-T looks interesting but in all reality it'll be a Yamaha of some description or maybe an updated version of the ZX14 whenever that eventuates (just as long as they don't style them after the current ZX6/ZX10's).

I wold very much like a decent motard come adventure bike, something like that what Gremilin has, the KTM 990.
However, every time I get on a sportsbike, I feel at home. Took the K9 750 out for a spin and would consider that as the next bike, or the new R1.

Technically, the manual says not for off road use :whocares: Hasn't stopped me from trying beaches (hard packed ones... 200kg doesn't float across sand) gravel roads etc. Best bike for NZ roads in my opinion :woohoo:
