675 Warning !!!!
I discovered this warning on a UK 675 site - I am going to check my bike ASAP
These are the bolts that hold the steering damper BRACKET to the frame.
The first link in the thread is broken but the photos show how the bolts could lock the steering if they came loose. My bike is race only so I can feel some lock wire coming on, locktite may be the go for road bikes.
I have looked in the manual but can't find the torque settings for these particular bolts. They go into the alloy frame so could be stripped easily I think.
The manual does have the torque setting for the bolt that goes into the bracket (18 nm ) so unless anyone can come up with another number I would be nervous about going over that.

My understanding is that it is only a problem if it makes a noise (the chain slapping against the engine casting) and mileage (kilometerage just doesn't sound right does it ?) was not really an issue it could happen any time or not happen at all. Apparently it is REALLY loud.
Even though it looks like a pretty straight forward and inexpensive mod (fitting the race "cam chain tensioner" ) My 675 is as quiet as sewing machine, so I am not going to dick with it :)

As a race bike, you should be doing constant bolt checks anyway :niceone:

I changed it out on my graphite and it is very easy and I was pleased with the result as well. :love:However I do agree if it aint broke don't touch it, though they are weak.:shifty:
