Stop moaning you lot .....Woodhills great at this time of year, tons of traction cause the sands all wet, not too hot so you can ride for longer, what more can you want??

There's even food and weather looks ok for sunday, perfect day out!

Plus Saturday morning's the only time a lot of people can get into bike shops. If something breaks on my bike I'd hate to have to miss a ride over it! Do like having the sunday for doing whatever (probably fixing things on the bike ). What we need are three day weekends!

Na, don't worry about the weekend at all, get out there during the week! There were 3 guys out there and me and Buffstar! Trails have just been groomed. The 3 guys had sick days! Good fun, still wet!

Hey just a quick note to the organisers of the Waitemata Club Trail Ride:

Thanks a lot guys - it was a fantastic day with great trails as usual. The 25km main was an excellent loop. Even got to play on a few "off piste" hillclimbs!

Nice work guys!

Ahh the way to a mans heart...hill climbs.
I actually thought of the Billy goats as I was flailing my way up a couple.

Bloody good track ah?

T'was a good course alright. Those hill climbs were good fun. Tried a few alternative lines up, next to main routes with mixed results. Had a couple of close calls with stumpage, plenty of those to keep you awake. Red paint always a very big help. Thanks wmmcc top effort.

Speaking of hill climbs, those 3 in that area after the dipper are a bit tricky.

Phew!
I think I need a nap and a cup of tea. :zzzz:
Good ride, found it quite challenging at parts (good thing bikes don't have feelings because mine got a real bollocking today!) got stuck on the bit with the ramp and the reeeally long loamy uphill bit was a struggle, dug some nice deep holes. Got through eventually with some assistance - if that was anyone on here, thank you! Got lost for a while with meatbomb bypassing the third set of hillclimbs - guess not many people took that way cause it was really fresh looking! my best hillclimb effort was about 3/5ths of the way up - pride's not too hurt though since I'm not a boy or a man! Tried a few times. Was pretty fun watching other people too. Some people make it look sooo easy.
Getting a bit faster now and more confident. Passing guys on big bikes is good for the self esteem - even if they do catch me when I fall over
Good job WMCC :2thumbsup *limp, hobble*

impressive!!!
firstly at the "carpark", we must have been about a k away from sign in. did the big loop to start, took awhile to warm up but after that started to get a rhythm going and only stuffed up twice, must be a record for me on forest tracks. one of the first man or boy climbs, hit neutral right before the bottom so went into second with no revs then found the hole that my mate had left there. turned the bike round with the grab strap, went to the bottom, no more nonsense gave it some stick in second, straight up didn't really slow down until hitting the foot ledge where a root got dug out, bahshitfuckbugger, over the handle bars onto the ground.
then the rest of the loop was problem free until, it must have been the ladder climb? but the really long hill with deep loamy sand, helped a few people on that one. stopped at the top then ktmboy covered us all in shit when he came round the corner :girlfight:
got back and thought, what an awesome loop!!
did the 5k one, then half way round the second time, there was a ktm85 stopped in the middle of the track, so i thought, lets just ride over this rather large log that's on a angle in fourth gear, ahhhhh NO, didn't get the front over properly, launched the rear end, front dug in about 2 metres away from the log, i went over the handle bars again, managed to catch the bar in the ribs, then the bike landed on top of me. mustv looked funny to the two stopped trying to start the ktm.
but had some htfu pills and went off to do the 4k track. thought the 4k was really good too, a bit tight in places, then the hill climbs at the end were cool.

so all 5 of us thoroughly enjoyed that ride, well done to the WMCC, will definately be going to the next one :2thumbsup

Well you did great Spiked Punch! I found the downhill a big challenge. Needed to walk the bike down that one! The loamy hill, yeah, thanks for the help on that one whoever you were! Not good enough to avoid the other people that were having trouble! Definitely the day was a challenge! Thank god for the 'boy' options! Don't worry Spiked Punch, I got lost bypassing the third set of hillclimbs as well. Went into a paddock full of cow stuff! We must have taken a long time out there, people came looking for us!

Great ride. I seem to be sorer than usual though. Not sure if thats a good thing or not :)

Did all the hill climbs. A couple took more than one attempt though :pinch:

n00bie I encountered that root also. Thankfully stopped in time though.

The little ramp near the end was pretty neat, and the last 1/4 of the 25km loop was pretty tight and techy.

Only down side was my bars coming loose near the end. Made me grip with my knees though.

Anyone here who thought the red loop was too hard?
I put a deviation around the long sandy uphill halfway throught the day as it was causing problems and would like some feedback about the rest of the loop.
Obviously we have to be challenged now and again to improve our riding but I am wondering if it was too much.

ArcherWC
8th June 2009, 17:57

there was nothing there that was hard that couldnt be bypassed by less confident riders. except the one that you bypassed
we wouldve done another of the big loop had i not displayed poor log hopping skills. :buggerd:
i saw plenty of smaller bikes on the track.
is the next one going to be in the same place with a similar track?

Nope it was great Bill.

I ain't as good as some but managed the long sandy hill by stopping just once (which is pretty good for me) But had some fun at the top just as i thought i had made it along came that hairpin bend and whoops oneside to the other and back again and then flung the bike at the tree! :buggerd: No damage to me or bike thank God but laying in heap the two guys sitting on their KTMs must have had a good laugh watching me!
Met two old timers up the top old WMCCers had a yarn like ya do then KTMboy came along moaning about arm pump! I got that.... but later!:2thumbsup

Next hill I lost it on the bottom corner as front washed out and no momentum to get up hill :argh: so gave up as KTMboy billygoated up the hill past me and on no particular line! I wandered off on the boys bit:pinch:. then got lost ! but found the way outin the end.

Kids loved it. Especilly that hill at the end of the green track.

Great ride. well done WMCC and thanks to all the people who put out, planned and retreived all the markers etc.... etc..... etc..... roll on the next one. right now:beer:

Not hard enough :)

I like your style chop.

Have to admit though Billaroo, I was struggling with arm pump with so many whooped bits but as the Marines say - 'PAIN IS JUST WEAKNESS LEAVING THE BODY.' Special mention re that little section on the bushy gully, I always particularly enjoy that bit when it's added. Me and mate didn't have enough gas left for a 3rd time round the red so had a quick scuttle around yellow and green. They were very good as well, loved that part on green where trees seemed to suddenly close in on you - like stumbling onto a neat movie set. Thanks again.

Really hard to cater for everyone.
Loved the whole lot. Its good to add variation and to make folks want to challenge themselves, after all thats what off road biking is all about.(otherwise join the road bike section)

Whoops, tight stuff, hill climbs, roots, wide open flat out sections, down hills, mud, clay, sand (have I missed anything). Our Kids had an absolute ball just being kids.
Its the total experience and if you didn't enjoy something then its time to get out of your comfort zone and say "I want to enjoy this terrain, How can i master it?"

Well its a good discussion point. Jeez we should have a conference?
It was all good.
