I had a girlfriend sort of do that on my (half share of a) Vespa, except she ended up inside a shrub next door. Somehow she missed the 1.5 m drop to the footpath.

Every time that bike hit the ground I winced for the fairings. I don't know why the other guy wasn't concerned about that :shit:
Quick!!

thats why learning on a more maneageable bike is a good idea.

...is this the reason why your only allowed a 250 on your learners?!

OOps kinda looks like my first attempt but the bike didnt fall over, it wedged the wheel under the deck....six inches to the left and it would of ended up in my lounge...I DID NOT fall off tho! Little sucker took off faster than I expected

I think that in the US of A you can get a bike license and learn to ride on anything (GSXR-1000, Hayabusa or whatever). I kinda think the NZ system is a little more sensible.

That's the way it should be. Weeds out the fucktards quicker.

I have had kids do that. Throttle on full and they freeze. 2 wheelers are OK as they tend to start to wobble and soon fly off. The worst was on a 4wd. Just kept on going until the fence stopped the fun...

Linked this to my mate who said he wouldn't mind a go on my bike this Friday.
It scared him a little, but I told him not even I MYSELF could get the back wheel spinning from standstill.
If he hurts my Bobbie, his Kona Mountainbike is still in my garage

A smaller bike in a nice soft paddock would have been a way better idea

The NZ system is flawed and needs fixing. 70k on the open road is dangerous.
The problem here is the guy teaching him did a crap job of teaching.
If you only teach someone how to use the clutch before they set off there is a good chance things will go wrong.
Just think about all the steps and teach them the steps.

Nobody (with any brains at all) said that the NZ system is perfect. I don't necessarily think the 250 limit is perfect either - but riding a GSXR-1000 to learn is just nuts. The LAMS system is not perfect either, but it has some sensible alternatives for taller rider.

The supposedly reasonable expectation that the learner at least understood how to operate a manual gear change was the first mistake. Once the fact that this fundamental ability was missing, they should have stopped.
The bike did 2 x 360 and also banged all left right and top with the ground. I would be surprised if it wasn't a write-off.
In that situation, whether the teacher or the learner, I really don't think I would have been laughing.
This looks like the result of more money than brains.

What does that mean, more than $5?
That guy didnt mind standing in front of the 'first time ever on a sports bike dude'....I found that suprising.

I think it was done on purpose.
I bet if it was an accident, the guy went to grab the front brake and put on a bit of throttle.
Nice vid tho!

Gotta agree with you there, If that was my bike and I was trying to teach someone and they did that I would be pissed. Not laughing about it.

I got mine in the USA and think its great. Have to do a 4 day course which is 1 day classroom, then they teach u for three days EVERYTHING in a safe environment. Byt he time your finished you at least have a sense of WTF your doing. Also any idiots get fail. On mine almost half failed.
Here you have to rely on your mates and as seen this isnt the best :)
Im very glad I got my license in the USA. Its true you can ride what ever size straight away after passing this course, but you have to pass it first.

Oh my god, that should be shown to all learners before they even get near a bike. If you teach like that you deserve to have your large sports bike totaled.

Classic newbie mistake. When something goes wrong (like I rev it accidentally and I didn't mean to) - instinct says "let go of the controls and everything will settle" - which means letting the clutch out.... I've seen it happen on a BHS course.
