Hey guys, I would like to ask a favour from the quickest of the quick riders of Tourist Trophie in PS2.

Can you please do your absolute best and give me some hot lap times in Nurburgring Nordshlife with a 2002 CBR 954 RR sports bike with settings of your choice and with sports exhaust and tires? I would like someone to set the bar so I can aim towards something. Currently I have done 7:48.XX but I would say, I only know the first 1/5th of the track very well.

The reason behind, if someone is curious: I have never really spent much time on this game especially on this track, but now I am especially keen to master it cuz from what I have seen and what I have heard, the track in the game is very similar to the real thing. Last weekend I had a bit of a walk around and checked out the surface etc (It looks so nice and grippy!). Currently I am setting up my bike and I hope to get on the ring by late June and slowly get up to speed after doing lap after lap.

Cheers for your help.

P.S. The lap times are with the most realistic difficulty setting. E.g. No touching the grass or crashing etc..

I can do the track blind fold.

the other settings are very important Sudeep - Manual or auto, and what level if any, of driving aids.

I have played TT in so long, but will have a jam tonight.

just saw this, on the ring, i dont see the problem with crashing - its extremely difficult to get a clean lap - I think I only managed it once, resulting in a 7:16 lap time, but otherwise I get frustrated at keep restarting half way through a lap. Crashing costs time, so its fine to crash :)

LOL, he's gonna do it in real life - and unlike you, he doesn't wanna crash! Either in the game or in real life!

I know I suck.Yeah thanks for the game i gotta pass it on soon! I've actually been playing it a lot recently. Entering my 90HP 250 GP bike in as many races it can and beating the pants off litre bikes :bleh:

I will give the ring a go sometime today on the 954. I don't know how to set up bikes i just put the sports exhaust on and adjust the ratios to give me good top speed. Most i ever did was adjust preload to give it more oversteer (according to the game!)

I've done hundreds of laps of the ring in many different games so i know it pretty well although its completely different when you only have two tyres and not 4.

Just did a lap in arcade mode which meant i couldn't adjust the setup. Did a pretty poor lap and came around in 7:58.359. All was going good until about 2 minutes in i hit some grass which sent the bike sideways all over the tarmac at about 280kph then i fell off. Hit the grass a couple of more times on the exits of corners half way round and then buggered up the last corner. Good fun though.

Do you have the controls set to 'pro' in the options? And your doing this in tourist trophy mode i guess under time trial?

Its been awhile but from what I can remember you can improve the handling and performance of the bike in both arcade and tt mode which can improve times by up to 10-20 seconds. IMO clean laps are definitely the way to go.

Will give it a dust off and post a time...

Will give it a dust off and post a time...arcade mode lets you boost the power up above what the bike should have.

I did a time in tourist trophy time trial. This time i had sports exhaust and changed the final gear ratio so it wouldn't hit the limiter at 300kph (hit at 320 which still wasn't really enough) and i tried out production tyres although i have no idea what the difference is between those and street tyres. This time managed 7:48.5 but spent quite a bit of time on the grass. A clean lap should be able to give 7:45.

I've had about 50 attempts since my 1:48 and i keep getting 2 seconds better on my first split but i've never made it much further than that  Pretty hard to get every corner spot on when you have to do it for over 7 minutes.

Nah we were always quite even if I remember right
I never use arcade mode and that hp increase thing. kinda takes all fun outta the game. More HP = more speed, and on the ring, that is lethal and makes not crashing quite difficult...

Wow, thoes are some quick times!! Esp from Barbender. I'm impressed!

Setting is in the highest difficulty, with manuel trans, and in TT mode, then time trial mode so no HP increase etc. Also I am using the red 954 if that makes a difference :-)

Last night I gave it a jam and I am learning the track a bit better and better. Got a 7:45.900.

Next goal would be to achive 7:40 flat. To shave off 10 more seconds again seems bloody impossible but I guess it is possible. We'll see..

Meanwhile, BB, do you slow down or brake for the flying sections (jumps) of the track? Or have you found a suspension setting to take the bumps nicely while still maintaining good handling for the rest of the circuit?

Slow down for all those dodgy flyting sections - regardless of suspension settings as its hard to control the bike upon landing, especially with a corner looming.

I just did a 7:35 on the above settings.

Sudeep-Im in TT mode however the bike in my garage is brown and on Prod. tyres. I dont think there's a difference.

I slow down on the jump sections - however its possible to go through those sections faster than you think if you find the right line. Eg I stay left up that hill in the first 1/4 of the circuit.

I have the preload set lower on the front(4) and slightly higher on the back(5). Rebound for front and rear are set higher(7) than compression (6). That seems to work ok. Finally gearing is 2.5 (final drive)

Enjoy.

How do ou turn aids off in time trial (mabe if i'm not on a honda?)

apparently you get better brakes in main game but i biased them more towards the front and they are still rubbish.

As for brakes, leave the ratio standard. Maybe bump them both up if you want.

Thanks man and let me know if you are around FRA for a beer. I don't know you but I'll be happy to catch up with a fellow Kiwi.

I was on THE Ring Yesterday.

As we got there, I was shocked to see the hundreds of cars and bikes that were there queuing up! Damn! Then after I paid my €22 for 1 lap, I finally made it on the track.

The starting point in real life can be in various spots for any given day. Yesterday though, we started at almost the exact same starting spot as in TT so it was uncanny to recognise the corners straight away.

Although it is scarry how alike the tracks look in the game and in the real, the feeling is of course totaly different. As it was my first time on the track since bloody ages, I just found a rider with medium pace to latch and learn the way around. It was bloody fun!

I would say that, if you know the track in the game well (I still don't), you can def judge entry speeds a lot better. What I found different is that, although I use the rider view in the game, the view in real life does not reveal the track as clearly. I found a couple of sections where I could not see over the crest and straight after, there were corners.

Another difference is that playing the game for 7-8 mins on the game feels much longer than doing say 10 - 11 mins in the real. As it was only my first sighting lap, I was told that I just did a 10 mins. Since I was with the mrs and a mate who had to wait around for me, I didn't jump on the queue again for another lap.

Maybe at the end of the month or early next month, I will go there again during a weekday and do a few more laps to start going quicker and quicker. When I do go quick, I can imagine that it WILL be very dangerous. Hence the name Green Hell is given to the track. It would be kind of like Pukekohe. Fast track with not much run off in fast sections. Only it is 10 X more fun! Even in my 1 lap, I came across 4 bloody crashes! Porsche in the wall, bike in the gravel trap, BMW and somethingelse collided together.. etc etc

I found it cool to overtake newer faster bikes as always of course but it is a totaly cool new feeling to overtake Ferrari's, Porsche GT3s, Corvetts and the likes. I know I will come across faster drivers in the future but I will also hope to go much faster then.

MR over and out.

P.S. When I get good and get my times down to around 8mins, then I will video it and put it up for all to see..

Aren't the games backwards compatible. My kids still play PS One games on the PS 3. The only things that they haven't got going are the guns but then we've never tried to get the PS One guns going. I'm guessing you'd be able to play the PS2 games easily on the PS3.

Some of the original PS3s did have the PS2 chips but they were removed to keep the cost down to compete with Xbox360.

They still have software emulation of the PS One but not PS2 :(
