Clean out ALL the old grease and re-pack it and if you're feeling rich put new seals on the hub before you put the wheel back on.

the bike isn't that old (just over 10,000ks  ), seals and bearings should be fine.. Just wanted to replace any grease that might have been washed out or worn off..

My rear wheel bearing is being done as well.
Hopefully taken off Tuesday night and all put back together Wednesday night.... as long as the dude shows up...
*note to myself must txt him Tuesday to remind him*
Plus replacing the bushes on the swing arm - as they are loose.
61,000 kms on my bike..... first time to be done.

surely your bike has sealed bearings, just grease the axle.
too much grease can cause problems with heat dissipation, however you shouldnt need to worry about that if youve got sealed bearings.

some are, some aren't.. there was 2 at a quick glace, could be 3 or even 4.. One was open, the others were sealed. I had a fiddle with them, and they still seem to move freely, but there's no excess grease anywhere.. I'll keep and eye on it, see how it goes. On the bike, it rolls fairly freely too, so may be paranoia at the moment.. It's all back together now anyway, so I'll check it in a few months may be, see how it's doin
