Anyone here know what the story is with paining your own helmets? What type of paints won't damage the helmet or effect the safety of it? thanks

What type of helmet is it and what is it made of? Some plastics may weaken if painted. Fibreglass is usually OK.
PM Crazefox - he'll know for sure.

Not sure at the moment, I was speaking unspecifically. I just thought I might get something cheap to paint. I'll pm crazefox than

If you paint your helmet there is a huge chance of the inner parts of the helmet (the polystyrene) getting damaged by the toxic fumes of the paint and the paint itself. I wouldnt recommend painting your helmet but do what you gotta do.
Have you ever poured petrol onto polystyrene to see what happens?

Some helmets are not recommended for painting (Polycarbonate in particular). Also if you intend to use the helmet for competition use at a later date,You should know it HAS too be inspected by am MNZ steward to ensure it is not just a cover up

it melts the poly and turns it into a cool napalm like stuff that sticks and burns REALLY well, also turns to hard plastic when the petrol has burned off.:shifty:

I guess you could use a water-based paint - haven't tried it so no idea if it will stay on.

GTFO with your aids!By the way you have no show of getting into the SAS as they don't recruit arse bandits, you might still have some hope of employment with the New Zealand Ballet though
