Hi there,

Has anyone got a table saw that I can run some 3x3 Rimu through? I need to slice and dice so I can finish some pantry doors... I can trade beer, cash, or even raw rimu...

I'm on the shore...

I know a carpenter's daughter, she has circular saws.

I've got one, if you're willing to get out here and wait whilst I bolt the circular saw back to the sawing table.

How many lengths are you talking about? I have one here at home that you are welcome to come use, but it is a pretty small one that I have just used for ripping down sheets of ply and 4x2 etc. Rimu is pretty hard (And very damn dusty) so it might struggle to cut through it, but if it is just a few cuts then it should be able to do it...

Feel free to call me if its easier, PM for mobile. Oh yeah, I also live in Whitford, Manukau so a little drive away from the North Shore, but hey...if you're desperate.... :)

Oh yeah, last bit...you will want a saw with a reasonably fine tooth so that it doesnt rough it up something nasty. I do have an orbital sander if that might help....

I think MBB really wants it to do a magic trick ala Copperfield :bleh:

A few - perhaps 15 cuts in all. I'm building some cupboards for the kitchen, and I have a stack of 3x3 rimu... I figure I'll get 3 x 1.5 cm strips from each -the intention is to build some door surrounds and use frosted glass - each strip will be used as the frame / surround...

I'm no good at glueing the body parts back on... Power tools are bad, m'kay.

If you are making a frame, 15mm will be a bit too thin. You are better off to get three pieces out of each "3x3" and aim to get somewhere around 20mm finished thickness. More stable and also easier to dowell together...

At least I didn't cut it in half - a little (tiny, small, insignificant, smaller than Craver's dick) sized nick is hardly noticable... :bleh:
