Well ive tried living closer to work....
I moved to Lower Hutt at the end of January. And can now say that after comparing the 2 the Hutt has nothing on Kapiti. The cost of housing here for what you get is crap! Plus its cold and scummy. I dont feel at home in the Hutt at all.
So im moving back to where home is!
LOOK OUT WAIKANAE BEACH, IM COMING BACK!!
Found an awsome house down at the beach. 5mins walk to the beach, 2 mins walk to the river. And best of all a HUGE garage with work area.
An nice big BBQ area with deck.
I wasnt too sure about going all the way down to the beach as its an easy 10-15mins extra on the trip, but we had looked for a suitable house for a while and couldnt say no to this one.
Myself and partner Anja are choosing lifestyle over being closer to work. We will both be able to commute in the same car so that will keep the costs down.
Might have to find a road bike for the summer....:shifty:

Looks likely I'll be doing it t'other way around soon. To Kapiti that is.
At least traffic will be a tad less of an issue. Still, will have to develop sources of inteligence as to best route each morning...

Welcolme back to where the weather is mostly always fine on the Kapiti Coast. Just 1 little bit of information for you, always stick to the speed limit travelling along Te Moana Rd as the Police love sitting there catching those who cant sit on the 50 k speed limit, so just give yourself plenty of time when leaving for work.
You will appreciate living here in Waikanae when travelling back from being up North as you can now cut 40 mins of your travelling time.
Let us know when the house warming party is?. :niceone::clap:

I have noticed the extra 40mins when travelling home from Taupo/Auckland etc. It doesnt sound much, but it does actually make a big difference.
Specially after you have been riding all day.
And will do re. the house warming.
