Otaki Social Riders Fundraiser Ride 5th july 09

The Otaki Social Riders would like to invite any and all riders to Join a charity ride to raise funds enabling Jaide Pearson to go to Mexico for medical treatment !

Sunday July 5th 2009
Registration $20pp including a sausage sizzle (free badge to first 100 to reg)

Assembly and reg 9.00am to 10am > Fat boys bar levin (behind cobb&co)

Ride briefing at 10.15 am, Ride departs 10.30 am (rain or shine)
Duration will be aprox 3 -- 4 hours with 2 or 3 refreshment stops !
Returning to Fat boys for a sausage sizzle, raffles, mystery envelopes and heaps of great spot prizes !

All monies raised will be handed over to Jaides mother Jayne at aprox 3.30 pm

Back way through to Ashurst, then Apiti fielding then SH1 home loop was the one we shot round today !
But if the weather turns to crap on the day we're thinking of shortening it up, as that loop could be a bit dodgy for learners with a bit of moss here and there !

Yeah Half doz of us did the loop today, left levin bout 11 am, was the only day Meatloaf could get off for the next month so had to be done as he's never been through there !

Yeah sorry i missed it bro, was sorta grabbed by the nads and told to get a bike on the road last night, so it was reassemble between coffees this morning !
Well if them ferries get canned in the morning mate, gis a ring on the cell and i'll direct you to the clubrooms for a couple (our usual long weekend funday) though i don't know how much fun it will be thrashing them dunngers around the padocks in -1 wind chill (say the bar be getting more of a thrashing)

Yeah was all good, roads were wet but no slides, no matter how hard we tried ! Copped a couple of showers but nothing special, oh and two bottles of rum to raffle off on the day were thrown our way !

Sounds a great idea, good chance to get the blue beast out for a spin. Ride to an from Wellie yesterday making me hanker for a long one :innocent:

A few KB mates from Wellie may be up too and it is Horse's 40th and Kenny's bash on the saturday so all round celebrations. Lucky my course got moved and my flight back from Auckland brought forward :2thumbsup:

Thanks Kari, will do that ! Just a bit of light drizzle about, nice and warm, so i'd say we be doing the full loop !

Reg is between 9am and 10 this morning at fatboys behind cob&co Levin, if anyone feels the urge to don their wets and join us !
20 bucks is all we ask to go towards Jaides fundraiser, and there will be alot of mystery envelopes handed out along the way and after hearing what sort of stuff is gonna be in them, they are all well in excess of the $20 value !

Quite a successful day from all accounts ..

a good bit of $$ made for the cause which is excellent .. did not go on the ride but registered early this morn & made the 3rd destination even if the main bunch didn't

Not counting those that couldn't make it today but kindly gave to a great cause !

Yeah mate, who'd do that aye lol Drag 70 odd bikes through the Apiti loop in mid winter bwahahahahahaa

Big ups to them folk at the Apiti Tavern for catering to the hordes yesterday, they had Two BBQ's cranking when we got there, plus bar meals ! Had raised Hundreds of dollars in the weeks leading up to the ride from the small but generous community ! Donated a chop licking bottle of brown liquid for a quick fire raffle on the bar which went pretty quick !

The commercial Hotel in Ashurst was another who kindly opened early on the sunday, had the coffee's layed out for us, Two more bottles of the dark liquid which were soon auctioned off (ya can tell who was gonna be the highest bidders by the glowing noses lol)


Another Big ups to Shields motors in Shannon for bringing his truck on the ride as back up wagon and then peeling off at fielding to trip back to ashurst and recover the harley, Only the one recovery (a couple of fixable breakdowns) and no offs ! (sorry you missed the ride Willy and Cindy, i hope the Ashurst Hotel crew were up to the challenge of keeping ya amused till your ride got there)

Appologies to the Ashurst mobil, the Lady there was totally unprepared for the amount of bikes we sent to ensure full tanks for the loop (Apiti alley had been closed down so we sent all who were unsure of their range to go gas up)


As Sandra said we made the call at the Feilding BP to ride past Himitangi as time was dragging on and we needed a good hour or so to hand out the spot prizes back at Fatboys and get a final feed of snarlers into everyone before they all went their own ways !
So i detoured into the wines to round up the few that had shot through while we stopped at fielding and the one or two that weren't able to do the full loop for one reason or another !

Another big ups to Wholesale Meats for donating the snarlers for the sausage sizzle and of course the Pearson clan for cooking them all for us !

Left levin on dry roads, via shannon to ashurst, where it was drizzling but only really just starting, through the sealed scenic route to Apiti where it was dry but damp (of course) to arrive at Apiti on dry roads again !
A light shower as we departed Apiti toward Feilding for another Gas stop, then hit a bit of heavier rain from Fielding till just south of Sanson to a still dry Levin !

Pretty sure all who came on the ride went away happy, Know we are with the result, hope our next poker run this summer gets the same sort of turnout lol

Will mention these guys again and thank them, because without them, it would have been just another ride !!!

Weather and roads darn good considering.

First big group ride in a while and it totally renewed my confidence so thanks to all the responsible riders that attended. Sly and Charlie41 trying to push me over in Ashurst nearly ended up with another stationary drop (fast becoming my speciality subject :crybaby:) but it was great to ride with them and the pieman :yes:

Horse was suffering the after effects of his 40th but made the end and we all got home before the downpour.

Huge thanks to you and the others for organising the fun :2thumbsup:
