View Full Version : My car got broken into last night

Heading back to the car after a night on the town, got to where I thought we had parked and see a car I thought was mine with its boot up, said to my mates "thats my car" they said "nah must be somewhere else". Got closer, it was my car. Two guys saw us approaching, closed the drivers door and the boot taking my sub with them and started crossing the to the other side of the road. Shouted out :Oi: and started chasing after them. They ran into Auckland uni, dropped the sub and took off a lot faster than I could run in heels. One of my friends picked up the sub and the other kept on following but lost them around a corner. Went back to the car to assess the damage. They had smashed the passenger window to get in, rummaged through the glovebox, taken a mates handbag, ripped the sub out, popped the bonnet but dont think they had time to do anything as we interuppted them. The sub broke when they dropped it and the cops cant do anything. :( not the best thing to find when you just want to go home. Was a very cold trip home thats for sure.

BAD NEWS. Glad the car was driveable and you got home OK.
I use one of those alarms that pages you when your alarm goes off.
I can now get beaten up as well as robbed :(
Bunch of wankers! I hate this sort of stuff. Lucky they did not get away with the car though.
I had a car of mine broken into in a similar fashion, except it was parked outside my house! Smashed a window to get in and did the glove-box search (it was empty, literally empty!) the car had no sounds in it at all, and they tried to crash start it down the hill, dropping it over a smallish retaining wall in the process! The car was an auto  Dicks!
My neighbour spotted them and came out and yelled, they scarpered. The cops were not interested at all! Oh well. It cost me $70 (fitted) for a new rear passenger window from the wreckers, I sold it not long after for $1000. She was a little beauty of a bomb you understand :D The woman I sold it too only owned it a week before she is landed with a repair bill for $700. The altenator mount was cracked (being dropped over the retaining wall it turns out, and was not a seperate part, had to buy a new engine case! I paid half the repair bill for her (she was a friend and I felt terrible for landing her with a friggen bill like that) and it was fixed. Lucky you interrupted them mate, hope you have insurance for the damage, I only had 3rd party, no cover for fire or theft.

Idiots! Trying to crash start an auto. What were they thinking. Yes I am glad we got there when they hadnt done much. I hate the 'what if...' or 'If only...' thoughts though. Had plenty of them last night. Main one being if I wasnt so stubborn and had gone back to the car when I felt it was time to go instead of going to a different club to see if it was any better than the one we were in. Would have left before they decided to target my car. And I have 3rd party, fire and theft, and glass cover. So am hoping it will all be covered.

No way you take this on board sweetie, there are some complete wank opportunist thieves out and about. Check your excess against the cost of making good the damage too, might actually be cheaper to fix /replace yourself once you work out the ongoing extra cost in premiums etc. Sucks! May thier armpits be infested with 1000 fleas that are immune to pyrethrum!

Hey, how bad is the damage to the sub - is it the box or the actual speaker that is damaged? Send a picture.
Oh, out of interest, thieves look for sitckers on the car, and they look for stuff in the boot - keep it all covered up and hidden.

Sub itself was damaged. Magnet came off the bottom and the copper coils came out/off too. Put it back to how I think it was meant to be but havent tested it yet to see if it works. Apparently they dont like being dropped.
Car is a coupe and the boot is covered anyway. Stickers? Such as?

I know it wasnt my fault. Its just damn annoying when something like this happens. Glass cover has no excess which is great but dont know if it will cover my smashed window. And the stuff that was taken out of the car is worth less than my excess for contents so wont be claiming any of that.

The other half's car has been broken into at least twice in broad daylight out the back of where he works. Second time someone saw it and rang the cops and they had a good idea of who it was. The sad part is, it's a 1984 Ford Laser with NOTHING in it worth stealing - no CD player or anything! Apparently they are easy to get into and then they use the car for shoplifting trips to another town, then they dump it on the edge of their home town and transfer the stolen goods into their own cars. It has an imobiliser so they couldn't get it started the first time, and the second time they failed to notice the steering lock... real clever guys! He could tell someone had been in the car as he's a non-smoker and he could smell cigarette smoke. Thankfully they just jemmy the door lock and haven't resorted to breaking windows yet, but it really pisses him off. He only paid $1000 for it and if it gets stolen, there is no way he'd be able to replace it with something as good for the same money.
I parked outside a hall in Whakatane once while attending a show and came out to find some little shit had slashed two of my tyres. About 20 cars had been attacked that same night, not that it made me feel any happier!

Yup, 'name' stickers = advertisement to break in and steal said 'name' items - even if you have'nt actually got the items as per 'name' sticker it is still an ad.

Ah, if the magnet came off, then it's likely toast, it's almost impossible to re-align the voice coil unless you have the right tools.
Poo.
Stickers, such as ALPINE/Sony/Fusion etc.
The other thing that should be obvious, is park in sensible places (in other words, not town), cars left outside bars and pubs are low hanging fruit to dick heads. I have GPS units on the bikes, and the car never gets left anywhere, I put it into a secure carpark (with a collection on Lambo's, AMG's, RS6's), and then taxi into town...

Sub isnt an expensive one so back to parallel import to get a new one (once the window has been fixed). Also Monkeymsea has an alarm that hes not using so we are going to get that installed in my car in case there is a next time.
Dont have any stickers so cant really figure out why they chose my car. Its somewhere Ive parked loads of times and there was about 30 cars on the same stretch of road.

Yea I know. Need to get it reported for insurance though. And Dad is a cop so is going to try to get the CCTV camera footage from Auckland Uni to see if they can see anything when it happened.

It's a case of bad luck.
Yes, it does pay to have an alarm in your car and budget one will do. Second, don't own a car that attracts attention, if you do, make sure you don't leave expensive shit inside, and have a wicked alarm. Granny cars are usually the best.
The thing with CCTV at Auckland Uni, it all depends on where you parked. You might've heard, shit loads of bikes got stolen over the last 2 years out of parking lot that's under the Uni quad, and yet all they have is that dummy cam.
And yes, good luck in finding the cunts.

My car is a Mazda MX6 so not the best looking car but not too bad. Used to have a granny car. Now have a granny bike. But Im grateful that we interuppted them as it could have been a lot worse if they had more time to get my stuff.
And yea I was thinking of just getting the footage as they ran into Auckland uni through the quad, but apparently those cameras are useless for identifying people anyway.
Thanks. Not like I could do much if I found them anyway though.

grrrrr this gets my blood boiling. It drives me to the point of insanity! Last year at 1am a neighbour knocked on my door to say he'd chased some youths into the bushes who had seen smash the window of my car in an attempted break in. I went into rage....I went silent, straight to the kitchen, got the butcher knife and in my fluffy slippers and pink Jammies, absolute darkness went slashing through the bushes saying some thing to the words of "decapatating" someone if I caught them. My newish boyfriend calmed me down when he said...baby baby u acting like a crazy person! The car was a company car so didnt cost me a thing but that stuff drives me crazyyyyyy
Grrrrrrrrrr ......... I need anger management when it comes to thieving!

If a cop is reading this, this is total fiction.
So, a mate of mine (who loves charactor filled cars) got home from working the night at the Rockgarden (who remembers those days?). So, I'm, I mean, he's standing on the front porch, trying to find the correct key when he hears the tinkle of glass...
So, he turns around, and sees a thug breaking into his 440 cu inch Chrysler...
I mean, FFS, it'd been parked there under a minute...
So, being young and stupid, I, I mean he, runs yelling at the thug - thug scarpers down the road.
Grab the keys, get in, start it up, 440 cubes of Mopar muscle below into life, rockets down the road, twin smears of 11's running at least 50 meters...
Straight at fucktard lowlife.
Fucktard lowlife literally pisses himself,(I could see it) and jumps out of the way.
Quick handbrake turn, more 11's, and another go at running the little fucker down...
He legs it across a fence and disappears.
Funny thing was, I never had another problem living at the address, and the stereo which got stolen about a month before I moved in miraculously appeared on the front doorstep...

Clearly the Famous Five is hard at work, but you'll never be as good at writing yer fiction as Fatt Max.

The thing about FattMax is that I'm 95% sure the stories are bullshit, but I don't care... How odd is that..?
