Quick and to the point-

Friday: Wainui to New Plymouth

Sunday: Return trip- Slighty damper, colder, and a little bit more wind. (gotta love those thermal layers, and my new Sidi rain gear)

Go the Mighty GN- never skipped a beat, she went and went and went.

She may not be the biggest bike on the road, she may not be the flashest bike on the road- but at least she was out on the road!!

Thanks to GTRMAN for the dry bags

Next wee mission- Wainui to AKL: Why not?

Good to see a few others out over the weekend.

yeah mate - the GNs have been around a long time - and prove themselves yet again! One of the most underrated bikes available

They can even get crashed into from the rear and are still rideable home.

Gotta say it. I used to mock GN's. They were asking for it: Cruiser wannabies, cheap bikes, cheap parts, they even have the type of oil they require embossed on the bike itself!

After seeing what they can do though... they are the little bikes that could. Heck. they are so well thought out the makers embossed the type of oil they require on the bike itself!

Good stuff with the ride dude, why stop at Auckland?

Good point, maybe further north is calling.

The only real downside was that The Mighty did not enjoy the strong southerly headwind- 90kph for what seemed like an eternity sometimes.

It just kept on going though!

The mighty was just toying with the wind. Wind and rain is nothing more than mere cannon fodder for a GN.

Good on ya for getting out there.... Who needs fairings I say!.

I can tell you the secret metal that GNs and riders are made of - it's HTFU material, missing in many others.

Thats when you switch to sports mode. You know those footpegs that look like they are for pillions? They aren't. They are for your feet when you change to sports mode. Chuck your feet on them, lean forwards till your head is level with the bars, and tuck your elbows and knees in.

I've heard it's possible to break the speed limit whilst doing this. Scary shit. :gob:

I would attempt it.. but this morning as I went to head off to work- nothing but a strangled sound of it trying to start. The battery is only 2 months old-damn it!

Oh well off to the shop she goes.

I know a guy who is thinking about selling his GN250. Not sure how old it was, '06 as well possibly (may even be the same one) and will be in damn good condition because this guy 'rides like a nana' and is really careful about keeping it covered, oiled and adjusted.

If anyone is interested I'll find out what he wants for it...

Simple to maintain, cheap to run..sure there are those that love to mock the GN- but I find most that do, tend to be the weekend warriors; as opposed to all weather riding types.

They are a great bike, I do look forward to upgrading at some stage-but until I do, I will ride with pride.

Yeah, I don't get what the big deal is. They seem like perfect learners bikes! To be honest I think I would have had a much easier time starting out if I had got one instead and given that I got about 12km/L from my last fill, I'd be spending less on a weekly basis too <_<
